My name is Marcelo Nakashima and I have 18 years of experience translatin English to Portuguese and Portuguese to English in various fields.

I´ve formally studied the English language for seven years, then lived in the U.S. in upstate NY for a year as an exchange student  from 1995-96. When I came back, I started working as an English language teacher in a school for two years and for many years as a private tutor and translator, working especially with university professors and post-grad students. I´ve kept in touch with my host family from 1995/96 and visited the country in several occasions, always for six weeks or longer. In 2016-17 I did part of my PhD research in the country, studying the National Parks System and visiting six of those conservation areas. I am fluent and very confident in my writing skills as well. As an English teacher, I took the University of Miami English Proficiency Test and got nearly perfect scores.

My PhD degree is in Geography, which gives me a very strong cultural formation and general knowledge. I´m very used to long translations both from Portuguese to English and English to Portuguese, especially for scientific papers. Coming from a family of scholars, I have a very strong cultural background, which qualifies me to work with literature, arts, games. music and journalism.
