Name is István BÁRKÁNYI. I am
a native Hungarian. I have been a freelance translator in Hungary for about
twenty-five years by now while doing HUNGARIAN<>ENGLISH translation jobs
in technical fields including first of all electronics, computers and related
subjects. I am also authorised to issue certified true translations in
technical, economic and scientific fields and I am a sworn interpreter, too.

I am a qualified technical,
scientific and economic translator-interpreter with a diploma from ELTE University
in Budapest.

Recently, I was involved in
putting into English of several hundreds of Hungarian patents for the Hungarian
Patent Office plus translating the website of this agency (field of
industrial/intellectual property).

For about 15 years by now that
I have been doing jobs for several of the most reputed and well-known
translation agencies working with hundreds of pharmaceutical companies (trials,
studies, clinical legal, ICFs etc.). I have excellent reference letters e.g.
one mentioning that I have done more than 1500 jobs for one of these companies.

At present I am also engaged
in doing different kinds of projects for SDL Hungary concerning automotive
engineering.

In the meantime I have worked
for BIO-RAD HUNGARY (both Life Science Division and Clinical Diagnostics
Division) and MED-ELPHO and, in addition, for other companies, all engaged in
laboratory diagnostics, reagents plus test kits etc. (this actually means some
5 million characters) for several years.

DELL, practically the biggest
hardware-producing company in the world, has also joined the list of my clients
and provided me with Instruction Manuals, User Guides etc. for translation.

I have excellent references
from German referees. One of them, Warburg Dillon Read, is a member of Union
Bank of Switzerland AG group for which I translated Hungarian privatisation
materials for a long time and the other, Paul Hartmann Papierwaren, made me
translate different kinds of documents several times.

I also have the certificate
from the National Office for Translations and Attestations which is the only
(and also the biggest) translation agency awarded with ISO 9001 in Hungary.

Again, I carry a letter of
reference from another reputed translation agency in Hungary for translating
thousands of pages of law harmonisation papers from European Union, European
Parliament and European Commission for years. Moreover I have been given about
500 miscellaneous documents (several thousands of pages) to translate for
European Commission, by a Bruxelles-based
translation agency.

I accomplished translation
tasks for different banks e.g. Raiffeisen, HVB Bank (Hypobank), CIB Bank
Hungary etc. References concerning all this bank involvement are available.

There is a thankful letter
from Translation Management Ltd. in England concerning my job that involved the
translation of a General Electric annual report.

Instruction manuals were
translated by me for JVC, SONY etc. appliances like TV sets, CD players, decks
and similar equipment.

I am a member of ITI
(Institute of Translation and Interpreting) in London and also of ATA (American
Translators Association) in USA plus an associate of the American Chamber of
Commerce in Hungary.

References available if
required.

E.g. I have been engaged in
translating EU regulations concerning law harmonisation for different
ministries in Hungary for about two years (Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of
Economy and Transport, Ministry of Justice).

In addition, dozens of books
in wide diversity of fields were translated by me.

I also speak some German but I
do actually understand everything in this language since it has been often so
that I have had to use aid materials e.g. in banking which were not written in
English.

Capacity: up to 2500 words a
day if I am available at the time when a particular job is offered.

I have and use SDL TRADOS 7.5
Freelance and Wordfast 2.2.4.

I have a wireless internet
connection (cca. 20.00 Mbit/sec), too.

Yours sincerely,

Bárkányi István
