3GPP 5G NR Release-15 specifies mobile operation up to 52.6 GHz. To overcome higher path loss and multi-path propagation issues at these higher frequencies, beam steering or beamforming will be used. Beam steering is not new and can provide high directivity signals to a desired direction. However, beam steering for mobile
communications at mmWave frequencies requires new access techniques that need to be tested and validated. Devices and base stations need to find each other and maintain a quality communication link while the device moves through the network. 5G NR devices operating in the new frequency range 2 (FR2) mmWave operating bands are likely to have their antennas integrated into the chipset and handsets making it difficult to probe for conducted tests. Therefore, over-the-air (OTA) testing is expected to replace traditional conducted test methods that were used in sub6 GHz designs. OTA testing can also provide a more realistic assessment of beam performance in real-world scenarios.

Para solucionar os problemas de maior perda no percurso e propagação multipercursos nessas frequências mais altas, poderão ser utilizadas as técnicas de beam steering (direcionamento de feixes) e beamforming (formação de feixes). O direcionamento de feixe, que não é algo novo, pode fornecer sinais de alta diretividade na direção desejada. Entretanto, o direcionamento de feixe nas comunicações móveis em frequências de ondas milimétricas (mmWave) requer novas técnicas de acesso, que precisam ser testadas e validadas. Dispositivos e estações radiobase precisam se encontrar e manter um enlace de comunicação de qualidade durante todo o deslocamento do dispositivo pela rede. Dispositivos NR 5G que operam nas novas bandas de operação de ondas milimétricas da faixa de frequência 2 (FR) provavelmente terão suas antenas integradas no chipset e handsets, o que dificulta o acesso físico para o teste de emissões conduzidas. Dessa forma, o teste OTA (over-the-air, de emissões radiadas) deverá substituir os métodos tradicionais de teste de emissões conduzidas utilizados nos projetos das bandas sub-6 GHz. O teste OTA pode também oferecer uma avaliação mais realista do desempenho dos feixes em cenários do mundo real.

I have +30 years experience translating English to/from Brazilian Portuguese, working with direct high-tech customers and renowned LSPs- some of them for many years - translating many different types of documents such as manuals and application notes, presentations to web pages, requests for proposals, legal documents and technical reports. Always with high-quality and under the deadlines.
Additionally to translation, I've been working on other language-related activities as project management, peer review, copywriting, user interface testing, machine translation, QA testing, and NLP applications.
I am also a public sworn translator (English) since 2000, approved in public exam.
