Pro Translator & Editor, Language Trainer, Sales Representative
I have a B.A. in English And French, followed by a M.A. in Applied Linguistics and 9 years of experience as a translator, including proofreading, language teaching.
As in-house sworn translator, I had the opportunity of translating a wide range of documents, primarily legal, economic, technical, medical texts from/into English, French and Romanian:
Agreements, Articles of Association, Powers of attorney, Websites, Assignment letters, Certificates, Resolutions, Diplomas, Academic Records, Medical brochures, Technical documentation.
- Text and translation editing and proofreading; basic knowledge of SDL Trados;
- Experience with lexicons, non-literary texts;
- Drafting specialized glossaries, brochures;
- Writing articles for monthly newsletters ‒ Language and translation-related articles.
I translated five literary novels from English into Romanian (Project-based and co-authored).
My most important specialized translation work:
"The Economist Guide to Project Management: Getting it right and achieving lasting benefit" by Paul Robert, published in 2016
"The Economist Pocket World in Figures 2015", published in 2015
As a language trainer, my activities primarily aim(ed) at enriching students’ vocabulary, consolidating their grammar knowledge and developing skills in oral communication, writing and translation. I worked with different age groups and loved every bit of it.
As a Technical Support Sales Representative, I handled the Belgium and Luxembourg middle-sized accounts portfolio for corporate customers (private and public sector). My clients included middle-sized and large companies and stores in various areas, from airports, magazines, breweries and logistics companies to public educational institutions.
I am also fluent in French, so I can take a French text and craft a translation in English targeting U.S., U.K., and/or Australian audiences, etc. Same goes for other pairs of languages.
I am currently studying Dutch. I successfully completed an online course and I am also taking a "Dutch as a foreign language" class at the University of Bucharest (B1-level certificate is in progress).
I am pretty flexible with respect to working hours. Deadlines are very important to me and I will always complete the task with professional proofreading, as I am very punctilious by nature.
