You are being asked to read this information because your partner has reported that you may have become pregnant during or shortly after he was taking part in a clinical study. It is important to establish if there is a risk to you or your unborn child from the medicine, known as the “study drug”, that is being tested in the study. The potential risks of taking the study drug may be damage to your partner’s sperm or exposure of your unborn baby to the study drug through the sperm. Therefore, you are being asked to share information about your pregnancy so that an assessment can be made to see if there is any risk to you or your unborn baby.
What information is needed?
After signing the consent form, you may need to have a test to confirm your pregnancy and an ultrasound scan to establish what stage of pregnancy you are at. Your doctor may perform the test and scan and send the results to the study doctor. If there is a relevant link between the time your partner was exposed to the study drug and the time you became pregnant, the study doctor will inform your doctor. You will be asked to report any medical problems you experience during your pregnancy to your doctor, who will provide regular reports on you and your unborn baby’s condition to the study doctor.
