Source text - German Ganz gleich, ob ‚Nation‘ nun als „allgemeines Modell der Beziehung zwischen Staat und Volk“ (Eric Hobsbawm 2004) oder als „an imagined political community“ (Benedict Anderson 1983) verstanden wird: Angesichts „der weiterhin gegebenen Notwendigkeit, der faktischen und analytischen Berücksichtigung von ‚Nation‘ Genüge [zu] tun, ohne erneut dem methodischen Nationalismus zu verfallen“ (Maria Alexopoulos 2016), stellt die systematisch ‚falsche‘, aber gesellschaftspolitisch äußerst wirkmächtige Ineinssetzung von Volk und Nation, die dem Nationalismus des ausgehenden 19. Jahrhunderts geschuldet ist, nicht nur Politik- und Geschichtswissenschaft vor enorme Herausforderungen, sondern auch die Popularmusikforschung.
Translation - English Whether the concept of the ‘nation’ is understood as a “general model of the relationship between state and citizenry” (Eric Hobsbawm 2004) or as “an imagined political community” (Benedict Anderson 1983) makes little difference: in view of the “continuing necessity of taking the ‘nation’ into account, factually and analytically, without again falling prey to methodological nationalism” (Maria Alexopoulos 2016), the systematically ‘false’ – but sociopolitically highly potent - identification of people with nation, stemming from the nationalism of the late 19th century, presents enormous challenges to political science, historical scholarship - and to popular music research.

My experience as a writer, translator, and editor covers countless academic papers and articles - many musical or musicological in nature, but also including literature, journalism, and general advertising. I have done voiceovers for podcasts, nature videos, and performed as a voice artist on musical recordings and served as the English voice of the Spiegel animated online animated series "Trump vs. Reality".
I have served as house translator/language consultant for the Institute for Jazz Research at the Arts University in Graz, Austria for over ten years, and I am currently employed as editor and PR agent for Austrian Music Export.
