Source text - English The fight between abstraction and figuration is clearly laid out in the work of Faith Ringgold, one of the powerfully skilful black woman showcased here in American People Series #20: Die, where black and blond are seen juxtaposed in almost caricature fashion. Shocking bright red blood sullies white shirts, a gun is held in the hands of a white man, a knife in the hands of a black man, while in the foreground two small children – one white, one black – huddle together staring out at the viewer in abject terror. It is, perhaps, a prayer for the future of white and black together.
Translation - Italian Il conflitto tra l’arte astratta e quella figurativa è chiaramente espresso nel lavoro di Faith Ringgold, una tra le più talentose artiste afro-americane in esibizione. Nella sua opera American People Series #20: Die, il biondo e il nero dei capelli delle figure vengono giustapposti in modo quasi caricaturale. Le macchie di sangue risaltano in modo impressionante sulle camicie bianche. Si possono notare un uomo bianco che tiene in mano una pistola e uno di colore con un coltello.
