Source text - Romanian But the story of manmade wonders also includes the more pragmatic cut-and-thrust of politics, the exigencies of economics, and the evolution and refinement of building technologies and techniques. Among the most exciting moments in world architecture come when sudden leaps are made, often through audacious, almost revelatory, experimentation. This happened in Europe in the very early 12th century, when the theories of Gothic construction – embracing the notion of a skeletal frame formed by ribs, piers, and buttresses balanced by pinnacles and utilizing the structural power of the pointed arch – emerged with dramatic speed. This offered revolutionary possibilities to traditional stone construction by imbuing it with added strength realized through finely calculated design.

Bio
Over 30 years of experience in specialized translation. In particular legal translation, economic, education translations, EU documents translations. I am a university professor, PhD, teaching for a master program in specialized translations. My bachelor majors were English, French and Romanian. I can translate from/into a combination of these languages. I am an authorized translator since 1999, certified by the Romanian Ministry of Justice. Before my career as a professor, I was an editor for 2 reputed Romanian publishing houses, so proofreading could be an equal choice. I translated 3 books before switching to specialized translation, which I found fascinating, for the constant challenge of the new texts. I am constantly cooperating with Romanian offices of translation now, but I think it is time to enlarge my range of collaborators and share my experience with them.
