Animateur pédagogique à Ngaoundéré dans la région de l’Adamaoua au Cameroun, j’ai tenu à aborder la question de l’abandon scolaire, qui prend de plus en plus de l’ampleur.

De nombreux jeunes abandonnent les classes chaque année, avec l’indifférence totale des parents, des leaders d’opinion, des autorités administratives et de la société toute entière. Cela tend à banaliser cette situation pourtant très grave.

L’abandon scolaire résulte principalement du manque de suivi et de la pauvreté de certains parents; de l’inconscience de certains enseignants régulièrement absents de leur poste de travail; des programmes scolaires inadaptés; des effectifs pléthoriques ; des échecs scolaires ; des mariages forcés ; des grossesses, des châtiments corporels et certaines humiliations subies à l’école; de l’attrait des métiers à gain immédiat…

L’abandon scolaire a des conséquences néfastes. Il s’agit notamment de la délinquance juvénile ; de la prostitution, des grossesses précoces; des IST et du SIDA ; de l’alcoolisme, de la consommation de la drogue, du banditisme …

Ces jeunes risquent porter plus tard, atteinte à notre sécurité. Nous devons donc agir rapidement.

Pour cela,

Chaque parent, doit suivre la scolarité de ses enfants,
Les leaders d’opinion doivent sensibiliser la population sur la nécessité de maintenir les enfants à l’école.
L’Etat doit élaborer et implémenter des stratégies visant à :
faciliter l’accès et le maintien à l’école ;
adapter la scolarité aux besoins des jeunes;
Soutenir les écoles professionnelles ;
Réinsérer les jeunes ayant abandonné l’école.
Considérant tout ce qui précède, nous devons désormais, tous contribuer à la lutte contre l’abandon scolaire.

I am a learning facilitator in Nagaoundere in the region of Adamaoua in Cameroon, I would like to broach the topic of the school drop-out rate, which is on the rise in the country.

Many young people quit school each year, to the complete indifference of parents, opinion leaders, administrative authorities, and of society in general. This tends to trivialize this very serious problem.

School drop-outs are primarily the result of a lack of monitoring and parental poverty; this is also due to oblivious teachers who are frequently absent from their post; poorly written school curricula; over-worked staff; pregnancies, corporal punishments and humiliations suffered at school; the attraction of jobs offering immediate returns...

School drop-outs have dangerous consequences. The main ones being juvenile delinquency; prostitution, teen pregnancies, STIs and AIDS; alcoholism, drug use and burglary...

In the future, these young people could undermine our safety. Therefore, we have to act quickly.

To this end:

All parents should monitor their child's education.
Opinion leaders should sensitize the population to the need to keep children in school.
The government has to develop and implement strategies to:
Facilitate the access and retention in school
Adapt education to the needs of the students
Support vocational schools
Re-integrate students who have already quit school
Taking into account all that has been said here, from now on we all have to contribute to the fight to keep young people in school.

Je m’appelle NDJOL Derick, apprenant formé au CFA de Malen V, promotion 2012-2014. J’habite avec mes grands parents à la périphérie Nord de la Réserve de la Biosphère du DJA (RBD) dans la région de l’Est Cameroun.

La RBD est un patrimoine mondial du bassin du Congo qui est riche en plantes, animaux et cours d’eau. La réserve est menacée par le braconnage qui est la vente illégale de la viande de brousse. Le nombre de grands singes par exemple est décroissant et le gibier est de plus en plus rare.

Après mes études primaires, je n’ai pas poursuivi les études faute d’argent ; et le lycée le plus proche se trouve à 30 Km de Malen V. c’est pourquoi je pratiquais le braconnage en 2011.

Je me suis inscrit au Centre de Formation Agricole (CFA) de Malen V où j’ai été formé en agriculture, élevage et en éducation environnementale. J’ai aussi reçu une formation humaine sur le genre et la citoyenneté responsable. La formation se fait par alternance chez un maitre de stage ou en famille et au centre.

En fin de formation en juin 2014, le promoteur APASCAM, l’association locale et ma famille m’ont accompagné à mettre en place ma première entreprise : un hectare de cacao associé au bananier plantain et un l’élevage de chèvre.

Le braconnage n’est plus un moyen pour améliorer ma vie. Je rêve d’agrandir mes exploitations qui me permettront d’avoir de l’argent pour couvrir mes besoins. Aujourd’hui je vulgarise les techniques agropastorales modernes et encourage les jeunes à s’inscrire au CFA de Malen V.

Plusieurs jeunes ont bénéficié de la formation, sont installés dans leurs villages, sont utilisés comme guide, pépiniériste ou éducateur environnemental. Cette formation a contribuée à réduire le braconnage.

The Dja Biosphere Reserve (DBR) in the eastern region of Cameroon is a world heritage site in the Congo basin, which has a wide variety of plants, animals and streams. I signed up to the Center for Agricultural Training (CAT) in Malen V, where I received my training not only in agriculture, animal rearing and environmental education, but also human training on gender and responsible citizenship. The work-linked training is either done with a mentor or with family and at the center.





At the end of the training in June 2014, the sponsor APASCAM, the local association and my family helped me set up my first business: a hectare of cocoa along with plantains and goat farming.

Poaching is no longer a way for me to improve my life. I dream of being able to expand my business, which would allow me to cover my needs.

Today I’m trying to spread modern agro-pastoral techniques and I encourage young people to sign up to the (CAT) in Malen V.

Several young people have benefitted from the training, are set up in their villages, and are used as a guide, nursery gardener or environmental educator. This training contributed to a reduction in poaching.

L’action de solidarité nous a redonné l’espoir de vivre, nous allons la perpétuer tant que nous serons toujours en vie et nous allons la léguer comme héritage à nos enfants !

Je m’appelle Christine MUKAMURIGO; j’habite dans la cellule Nyakagezi, secteur Huye en Rwanda.
Je vivais dans la solitude, en extrême pauvreté, sans logis, avec une terre non fertile, sans outils agricoles, avec famine chronique et beaucoup de maladies dans ma famille.
APROJUMAP est venue vers nous depuis 2013, elle nous a rassemblés, nous a appris plusieurs pratiques parmi lesquelles « l’action de solidarité hebdomadaire ».
Nous nous sommes familiarisés entre nous, nous nous aimons, nous entraidons en construisant les maisons, labourant les champs. Nos champs sont devenus productifs, on ne parle plus de famine dans nos ménages.
Nous avons reconquis notre dignité aux yeux de nos voisins et des autorités.
L’action de solidarité nous a redonné l’espoir de vivre, nous allons la perpétuer tant que nous serons toujours en vie et nous allons la léguer comme héritage à nos enfants !
APROJUMAP nous a amené des jeunes belges qui nous ont prêté main forte dans les actions de solidarité. Ensemble, nous avons fabriqué les briques adobes, construit des maisons; transporté du bois, planté le riz, …
Nous avons partagé beaucoup de valeurs de nos cultures respectives. Danses, convivialité, amour, solidarité, enthousiasme !
Même si certains d’entre nous n’ont pas assez de force physique pour participer activement aux activités, nous gardons le courage de travailler sans les laisser de côté.
L’action de solidarité nous a redonné l’espoir de vivre, nous allons la perpétuer tant que nous serons toujours en vie et nous allons la léguer comme héritage à nos enfants !

I´m called Christine MUKAMURIGO, I live in the village of Nyakagezi in the Huye district in Rwanda.

I lived in solitude, in extreme poverty, without a home, on infertile land without any agricultural tools, with chronic famine and with family plagued by disease.

APROJUMAP has come to us since 2013. It gathered us all together and taught us a number of practices, one of which was “weekly cooperative action”.

We got to know one another, love one another, and help one another by building houses and working in the fields. Our fields have started to produce food, meaning that famine is no longer a concern for us.

We have taken back our dignity in the eyes of our neighbors and the authorities.

Cooperative action has given us a reason to hope again, we are going to spread it as long as we live and we are going to pass it onto our children!

APROJUMAP led us to some young Belgians who gave us an extra helping hand. Together, we have made adobe bricks, built houses, transported wood, planted rice…
We have shared many of the values from our respective cultures. Dances, friendship, love, solidarity and enthusiasm!
Even if some of us don´t have the physical strength to participate in the activities, we do our best to not leave them out.
Cooperative action has given us a reason to hope again, we are going to spread it as long as we live and we are going to pass it onto our children!

Je suis ZRA, apprenant en 2ème année à l’EFA+ de Mokolo. Nous entretenons des bonnes relations avec nos camarades du CEFFAMAK, dans l’arrondissement de Tokombéré depuis deux ans 2016/2017.

Ces liens ont permis à nos deux écoles d’avoir des relations pacifiques grâce aux voyages d’études. A travers les causeries éducatives, nous sommes sensibilisés sur la scolarisation et l’importance de notre formation qui nous permettra de travaillé en notre propre compte et de mieux s’insérer dans le monde de l’emploi. De séries des jeux à savoir les tournois de football homme et femme nous ont permis une cohésion social, connaitre notre prochain et de vivre dans l’harmonie.

L’organisation des concours des danses traditionnelles : Mafa, Kapsiki, Moufou, Guiziga, Guidar, Mada, Toupouri, Moudang, nous ont permis de valoriser nos cultures, d’apprendre les cultures des autres ceci a permis un brassage culturel. Organisation des tables rondes sur le thème entreprenariat nous ont édifiés sur les étapes de la mise en place d’une entreprise et l’élaboration de business plan. Des voyages d’études dans des différentes localités de la région nous ont permis de faire leur connaissance.

On note un obstacle majeur qui est l’extrémisme qui demeure toujours dans notre région, il réduit la circulation des biens et des personnes a fait en sorte que certaine de nos activités n’ont pas été effectué. Pour pallier à cet obstacle la surveillance par les forces armées gouvernementales permettra d’assurer la sécurité des personnes ceci pour réaliser tous nos activités. Ses différentes activités menées ont eu des impacts positifs sur notre manière de vivre en société et de coopérer avec nos proches.

I’m Zra, a second-year student at EFA+ in Mokolo. We have maintained good relationships with our friends in CEFFAMAK, in the district of Tokombere for 2 years 2016/2017.

This has given us the opportunity to have cultural exchanges. The organization of round tables about entrepreneurship gave us the groundwork to help us to start a business and helped us to develop business plans.

The study trips in different communities in the region have given us the opportunity to meet people.

There is one major obstacle, which is the extremism which still exists in our region. It reduces the circulation of goods and of people, and to the point that some of our activities couldn’t be done.

To overcome this obstacle, surveillance from armed government forces, will assure the security of the people here, allowing us to go about our activities.

The different activities that were organized had a positive impact on the way we live our lives in our society and on the way we cooperate with those around us.

Maya! Lange nicht gesehen! Wie geht‘s?

Lou, wie schön! Alles im grünen Bereich bei mir. In der Schule haben wir gerade eine Projektwoche zum ThemaKulturerbe! Die Idee hatte unsere Französischlehrerin, die auch Kunst unterrichtet und insgesamt sehr umtriebig ist. Eigentlich bin ich Kulturbanauseund dachte deshalbzunächst, das wird bestimmt langweilig, bestenfalls etwas interessanter als Unterricht, aber inzwischen bin ich Feuer und Flamme.

Echt? Was genau macht ihr da?

Oh, da gibt es ganz unterschiedliche Sachen: Wir haben zum Beispiel einen Koch-Workshop, eine Musikgruppe, eine Sportgruppe und wir machen Ausflüge mit Besichtigungen. Man kann jeden Tag woanders mitmachen und lernt dadurch viele Leute aus den anderen Klassen und Jahrgängen kennen, die man sonst immer nur auf dem Schulhof sieht. Macht einfach Spaß!

Das klingt wirklich nicht schlecht, aber was hat das alles mit Kulturerbe zu tun? Ich denke da eher an alte Gemäuer oder sowas.

Genau das war auch meine Vorstellung, aberinzwischen ist mir klar geworden, dass neben Museen und Denkmälern auch Musik, Spiele und Filme dazugehören –sogar Essen! Auf dem Schulhof duftet es zum Beispiel nach schwedischen Zimtschnecken, da läuft einem das Wasser im Munde zusammen! Die haben die Austauschschüler von unserer Partnerschule in Göteborg gebacken, die gerade zu Besuch sind. Bei mir wohnt auch ein schwedisches Mädchen. Übermorgen machen wir mit der ganzen Gruppe einen Ausflug in die Weinberge und lassen uns den Weinbau erklären, der nämlich auch zum Kulturerbe gehört –wer hätte das gedacht! Hoffentlich dürfen wir auch einen Schluck probieren...

Beneidenswert! So eineProjektwoche könnte an meiner Schule auch gerne stattfinden! Vielleicht sollte ich das mal vorschlagen. Darf ich bei euch vorbeikommen und mir das Ganze anschauen?

Ja gerne, heute Abend istzum Beispiel eine Filmvorführung, zu der du kommen könntest. Es ist ein alter italienischer Stummfilm, musikalisch untermalt von unserem Schulorchester.Und danach gibt es Pizza, die im Koch-Workshop gebacken wird! Die schwedischen Gastschüler sind natürlich auch da. Was meinst du?

Wie könnte ich da nein sagen? Das lasse ich mir natürlich nicht entgehen! Hoffentlich ist noch eine Zimtschnecke übrig..

That's what I thought, too but I eventually realised that it's not just museums and statues but music, games and films-even food! In the schoolyard it smells of Swedish cinnamon rolls, it's enough to make your mouth water! They were made by the exchange students from our partner school in Gothenburg, who are visiting us. A Swedish girl is also living with me. The day after tomorrow we're taking a trip to the vineyards and we're going to learn about how wine is made, which, by the way, is also a part of cultural heritage. Who would have thought it? Hopefully we can try a little bit, too!

I'm so jealous! It would be great if there was a project week like that at my school. Maybe I should suggest it. Can I come by and see it for myself?

Yeah, sure. There is film-screening tonight that you can come to. It's and old Italian silent movie, accompanied by our school orchestra. Then, there will be pizza from the cooking workshop. Our Swedish guests will be there too, of course. What do you think?

How could I say no? I wouldn't miss something like that! I just hope there is a cinnamon roll left...  
German to English: Lufthansana and British Airways suspend flights to Cairo

Frankfurt am Main (Deutschland) / London (Vereinigtes Könifreich), 24.07.2019 – Die Deutsche Lufthansa hatte am Samstag, 20. Juli, bekannt gegeben, den Flughafen der ägyptischen Hauptstadt Kairo nicht mehr anzufliegen. Das hatte zuerst die Tagesschau gemeldet. Der Schritt, so ein Unternehmenssprecher von Lufthansa, erfolge aus Sicherheitsgründen, bis man die Lage überprüft und neu bewertet habe. Über die Hintergründe der Maßnahme wollte Lufthansa keine Angaben machen.

British Airways erklärte am 20. Juli in London, man habe „die Flüge nach Kairo als Vorsichtsmaßnahme für sieben Tage ausgesetzt, um weitere Bewertungen vorzunehmen“. Auch British Airways gab keine näheren Gründe für die Aussetzung der Flüge an.


Auch am 21. Juli 2019 gab es keine konkreten Hinweise auf die Art der Sicherheitsbedenken. Andere Fluggesellschaften führen ihre Flüge wie vorgesehen durch. Lufthansa erklärte am Sonntag, dem 21. Juli 2019, ihre Flüge nach Kairo wieder regulär durchführen. Egypt Air plant, größere Maschinen nach London Heathrow zu entsenden, um das erhöhte Passagieraufkommen zu bewältigen.



Nach Angaben von Daily News Egypt hat die britische Botschaft in Kairo mitgeteilt, dass es keine diesbezüglichen Sicherheitsanweisungen des britischen Department for Transport und des britischen Außenministeriums gegeben habe. Aus den Reisehinweisen des britischen Außenministeriums erfährt man auch nur, dass British Airways den Flugbetrieb eingestellt hat und dass sich betroffene Reisende an das Flugunternehmen wenden sollen. Yasser Sultan, Mitglied der ägyptischen Kammer der Tourismusunternehmen, hält es für möglich, dass die Gründe eher politischer Natur seien.

The German airline Lufthansa announced on Saturday 20th July that its would no longer fly to the airport in the Egyptian capital, Cairo. The Tagesschau reported that first. A company spokesperson says that this step has been taken for security reasons, until the situation has been checked and reevaluated. Lufthansa did not wish to give any information about the details behind the measures.

British Airways announced on July 20th in London that "flights to Cairo will be stopped for 7 days as a safety precaution, in order to make further evaluations". British Airways also did not give any more details about the reasons for the cancellation of the flights.

On July 21st there was also no indication about the nature of the security concerns. Other Airlines continued to fly as planned. Lufthansa announced on Sunday July 21st that it would recommence it's regular flights to Cairo. Egypt Air plans to send larger aircraft to London Heathrow in order to cater to the high passenger demand.

According to a statement from Daily News Egypt the British Embassy in Cairo says that there were no security instructions from the British Department of Transport and the British Foreign Office. The travel guidelines of the British Foreign Office indicate only that British Airways stopped flight services and that travelers affected by this should address the airline. Yasser Sultan, member of the Egyptian Chamber of Tourism believes it's possible that the reasons were political in nature.

I have been a language teacher for the last 4 years. Apart from my native English I speak fluent French and German (both to C1 standard) and have a strong working knowledge of both Japanese and Russian. I studied French at university and took translation classes. I have lived in both France and Switzerland and have practical knowledge of both those languages.


In my classes I place a strong emphasis on translation during the early stages in order to show my students how the languages work and to draw attention to grammatical structures. Thanks to this I have translated countless texts into and out of English for the benefit of my students.
