Introduction
Biometrics technology is used nowadays in a wide variety of security applications. The aim of such systems is to recognize a person based on physiological or behavioral traits. In the first case, the recognition is based on measurements of biological traits, such as the fingerprint, face, iris, etc. The later case is concerned with behavioral traits such as voice and the handwritten signature [1].
Biometric systems can perform two tasks: verification and identification. In the first case, a user of the system claims to be a particular person, and provides the biometric sample. The role of the verification system is to check if the user is indeed who he or she claims to be. In the identification case, a user of the system provides a biometric sample, and the objective is to identify, among all the people enrolled in the system, who the person is.

Pendahuluan
Teknologi biometrik saat ini telah dipergunakan dalam berbagai aplikasi keamanan. Tujuan dari sistem tersebut adalah mengenali seseorang berdasarkan ciri-ciri fisik atau ciri-ciri perilakunya. Untuk ciri-ciri fisik, pengenalan didasarkan pada pengukuran ciri-ciri biologis, seperti sidik jari, bentuk wajah, iris mata, dan lain-lain. Sedangkan ciri-ciri perilaku didasarkan pada ciri-ciri seperti suara atau tanda tangannya [1].
Sistem biometrik memiliki dua peran, yaitu: verifikasi dan identifikasi. Verifikasi terjadi saat pengguna sistem mengaku sebagai seseorang tertentu, dan menyediakan sampel biometriknya. Peran sistem verifikasi adalah memeriksa apakah pengakuan pengguna tersebut benar. Sedangkan pada peran identifikasi, pengguna sistem menyediakan sampel biometriknya, dan sistem bertugas untuk mengenali dari daftar yang tersedia, siapakah orang tersebut.
