Gbagbo dismisses the threats of violence.

The rejected president of The Ivory Coast, Laurent Gbagbo, dismissed on Saturday the threats of removing him with violence as "unacceptable". It was announced shortly afterwards that the presidents from Benin, Sierra Leone and Cape Verde are on Tuesday travelling to the country to demand that he gives up power.

The goal is to demand that Laurent Gbagbo gives up his power, said the foreign minister of Benin as per AFP.

Gbagbo, who refuses to step down after the election he lost, calls the West African leaders pledges as a "Western world conspiracy, orchestrated from France".

The West African cooperation Ecowas threatened Gbagbo with violence, if he doesn't resign, in a meeting in Nigeria last Friday.

Ahoua Don Mello, spokesman for Gbagbo’s government, warned on Saturday that a military intervention from other states could risk the safety for millions of immigrants from those countries.

- The Ivoirians will mobilize. This strengthens our patriotism. This strengthens our belief in Ivorian nationalism, said the spokesman.

The winner in The Ivory Coast’s election, Alessane Ouattara, has requested that the International Criminal Court ICC in Hague investigate the violence that occurred after the election. Instead of healing its wounds as intended after the civil war in 2002-03, the country fell into a standstill after the election when Gbagbo refused to admit defeat.

FN announced on Saturday that an estimated 14,000 Ivoirians have fled to neighbouring country Liberia after the recent times of unrest.

"The humanitarian needs are increasing for in particular the women and children among the refugees, as for the villagers who are taking them in", it was said on UNHCR’s website, adding that the number of refugees is increasing.
