Definition: These are two terms used to refer to trauma reactions that occur as the result

These types of events are often referred to as critical incidents and are unusual and
intense. Examples of critical incidents that humanitarian workers may experience include
being assaulted, being in situations where many people are dying, being within range of
gunfire, or experiencing car accidents, bombings, kidnappings and carjackings.

Source text - English Cisco Systems, exploiting the potential of IoT in the UAE
We’ve said it before and we’re going to say it once again: the Internet of Things is the future and it won’t be long until this concept will be embraced by more and more people.
One of the countries that are making incredible progresses from this point of view is the UAE, where significant companies are investing, in order to make the technology accessible to anybody interested in it. One example is Cisco, who recently organized a conference, connecting students from the Jebel Ali School in Dubai and Makini School, from Nairobi, Kenya.
140 students had the chance to communicate with their counterparts from another continent, using the latest tech. Cisco’s initiative had the purpose of promoting the utilization of technology amongst youngsters, encouraging them to consider careers in tech. Also, it should help them get familiar with technologies that, soon enough, will be part of their lives.
"It's incredible to see the kind of ideas this generation is able to come up with once you spur their imagination and open their eyes to the possibilities. It was exciting to hear how they view IoT from unconventional, fresh perspectives,” said Den Sullivan, head of Software, CISCO EMEAR.
But communication wasn’t the only thing the experience focused on, as students were also engaged in interactive learning sessions, revealing what kind of impact the Internet of Things could have.
Communications is not the only area in which Cisco is currently investing though, as the company seems to be very preoccupied with improving the healthcare system, considered a ‘hotbed of innovation’.
Cisco is planning to interact with communities outside healthcare and gather as much information as possible, in order to start developing new and innovative systems which can be used in health care. Everything is expecting to happen at this year’s Digital Hospital Design Forum, part of HIC 2016, happening between July 25 and 27, in Melbourne, Australia

مائة وأربعون من الطلبة نالوا الفرصة للتواصل مع نظرائهم من قارة أخرى باستخدام أحدث تكنولوجيا، وقد كان الهدف من مبادرة سيسكو هذه هو ترويج استخدام التكنولوجيا بين الصغار، وتشجيعهم على التفكير في اتخاذ مهن في حقل التكنولوجيا، وأيضاً مساعدتهم على التعرف على تقنيات ستصبح –في القريب العاجل- جزءاً من حياتهم.
قال (دين سوليفان Den Sullivan) رئيس برنامج CISCO EMEAR: "من المدهش أن نرى نوعية الأفكار التي يستطيع هذا الجيل استيعابها بمجرد أن تثير خيالهم وتفتح أعينهم على الإمكانيات المتاحة، وكم شعرنا بالإثارة عندما سمعنا كيف قاموا بعرض انترنت الأشياء من وجهات نظر جديدة وغير تقليدية".
لكن هذه التجربة لم تركز على التواصل وحده، بل وضعت الطلاب في جلسات تعليمية تفاعلية كاشفةً عن مدى التأثير الذي يمكن أن يحدثه انترنت الأشياء.
ولا يقتصر استثمار سيسكو في الوقت الحالي على الاتصالات، بل يبدو أن الشركة مولعة بتحسين أنظمة الرعاية الصحية؛ مما يجعلها مرتعاً خصباً للإبداع.
وتخطط سيسكو للتفاعل مع مجموعات خارج مجال الرعاية الصحية وجمع أكبر قدر ممكن من المعلومات لكي تبدأ في تطوير أنظمة جديدة وإبداعية من الممكن استخدامها في مجال الرعاية الصحية. وكل هذا يتوقع حصوله في منتدى تصميم المستشفى الرقمي (جزء من HIC 2016) المنوي إقامته بين الخامس والعشرين والسابع والعشرين من يوليو، في ميلبورن بأستراليا.
