João Gilberto Prado Pereira de Oliveira (Juazeiro, 10 de junho de 1931), conhecido como João Gilberto, é um cantor, violonista e compositor brasileiro. Tido como o pioneiro criador da bossa nova, é considerado um gênio e uma lenda viva da música popular brasileira. Foi eleito pela revista Rolling Stone Brasil o 2º maior artista brasileiro de todos os tempos, atrás somente de Tom Jobim.
Desde o lançamento de Chega de Saudade, munido apenas da voz e do violão, começou uma revolução na música brasileira e na música mundial. Dono de uma sonoridade original e moderna, João Gilberto foi o artista que levou a música popular brasileira ao mundo, principalmente para os Estados Unidos, Europa e Japão. Tido como um dos maiores influentes do jazz americano no século XX, ganhou prêmios importantes nos Estados Unidos e na Europa, como o Grammy, em meio à beatlemania.

João Gilberto Prado Pereira de Oliveira (Juazeiro, June 10, 1931), known as João Gilberto, is a Brazilian singer, guitarist and composer. Held as a pioneering creator of bossa nova, he is considered a genius and a living legend of Brazilian popular music. He was elected by Rolling Stone Brasil magazine as the second most important Brazilian musical artist of all time, behind only Antônio Carlos Jobim.
Beginning with the release of Chega de Saudade, armed with only his voice and guitar, he began a revolution in Brazilian music, and in world music. Possessing a modern and original sound, João Gilberto was the artist who brought Brazilian popular music to the world, principally to the United States, Europe and Japan. Considered one the greatest influences on American jazz in the twentieth century, he won important prizes in the United States and in Europe, such as the Grammy, right in the middle of Beatlemania.
