English to Portuguese: OPERATIONAL TESTING AND INSPECTION
Source text - English
OPERATIONAL TESTING AND INSPECTION
Gas measuring instruments should be tested in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions before the commencement of operations requiring their use. Such tests, which may include use of a span gas, are designed only to ensure that the instrument is working properly. They should not be confused with calibration. (See Section 8.2.6 above) Instruments should only be used if the tests indicate that the instrument is giving accurate readings and that alarms, if fitted, are operating at the pre-determined set points.
Physical checks should include: -
• Cable.
• Hand pump.
• Extension tubes.
• Connections (for tightness).
• Batteries.
Instruments not passing these operational tests should be re-calibrated before they are returned to operational use. If this is not possible, they should be removed from service and clearly labelled to denote that they are not to be used.
During operations it is important to check the instrument and sample lines for leakage occasionally, since the ingress of air will dilute the sample and give false readings. Leak testing may be carried out by pinching the sample line and squeezing the aspirator bulb.
The bulb should not expand as long as the sample line is pinched.
During extended operations, the operator should determine the frequency at which operational checks should be made.
These procedures should be documented in the Safety Management System (See Section 9.2).
The results of the tests and inspections should be recorded.

CHAP. 7 DROP SYSTEM (Pump protection)

Pressurized units, on request, can be supplied equipped with a protection system, called DROP (Dry Running Operation Protection), which protects hydraulic parts from possible damage which could be caused by overheating of the liquid inside the pump body.
Such overheating can take place owing to causes outside the pump or because the pump stops priming.
The DROP system can be supplied either installed inside the pump body or mounted on the outside. In both cases it consists of a special sensor mounted in contact with the pumped liquid and connected to the motor’s terminal board.
The DROP system is reset using the switch located on the box holding the condenser.
Operation: when the temperature of the liquid inside the pump body reaches 60°C to 70°C, DROP interrupts the power supply to the motor, the pump stops and the pilot lamp positioned next to the switch illuminates.
The pump can start again automatically only if the system cools and if the power supply is disconnected and then connected again.

Restoring operation:
– position the switch to “0”, disconnect the plug;
– rectify the cause of malfunction;
– wait a few minutes, until the whole hydraulic part has cooled;
– position the switch to “I”, reinsert the plug, the red pilot lamp light extinguishes and the pump starts again.
If the red lamp stays on, put the switch to “0”, disconnect the plug and repeat the start-up operations after a few minutes.

The circuitry diagram is shown in Fig. 5.

- Posicione o interruptor para “0”, desconecte a tomada;
- Corrija a causa do mau funcionamento;
- Espere alguns minutos, até que toda a parte hidráulica esfrie;
- Posicione o interruptor para "I", reinsira a tomada, a lâmpada piloto vermelha apagará e a bomba partirá novamente.

CAP. 6 MANUTENÇÃO E PESQUISA DE AVARIAS
PERIGO

– controlo da pressão (ou prevalência): uma diminuição da pressão é sintoma de desgaste da parte hidráulica da bomba;
– controlo da corrente absorvida: um valor da corrente absorvida, superior ao da placa de identificação é sintoma de atritos mecânicos ou anomalias de funcionamento na bomba ou no motor eléctrico;
– controlo da vedação mecânica: verifique a ausência de fugas de líquido, a presença de algumas gotas de líquido deve julgar-se normal; um gotejamento contínuo é sintoma de desgaste ou danificação da mesma;

CHAP. 6 MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING

DANGER

Risk of electric shock

Before performing any maintenance, disconnect the unit from the mains.

DANGER
Any maintenance operation which requires interventions on the unit or on the electrical circuit shall be performed by qualified personnel.

Pressure units, in normal operating conditions, require no maintenance.

As a precaution, in order to avoid possible damage, it is advised to periodically carry out the following controls by qualified personnel:

- Pressure monitoring (or prevalence): a decrease in pressure is a symptom of wear of the hydraulic part of the pump;

- Control of current drawn: a value of current drawn, that is above the nameplate value, is a symptom of mechanical friction or of a malfunction of the pump or of the electric motor;

- Control of mechanical seals: Verify the absence of fluid leaks, the presence of a few drops of liquid shall be judged to be normal; a continuous drip is a symptom of wear or damage;

- Control of pre-load pressure in the accumulator vessel: a decrease in the pre-load pressure in the accumulation vessel determines an increase of the start-ups of the electric pump.

The control of the pre-load pressure and its restoration must be carried out by qualified personnel using the valve located on the accumulator vessel, using a hand pump or a compressor with a pressure gauge.

If the unit is to be unused for long periods (for ex. an entire season), it is advisable to empty it completely, rinse it with clean water and store it in a dry place.
