Hi, my name is Gilang Kanigara. Before you engage my translation services. I would like to tell you first about my background in the translation/localization sector.

I have been a translator since 2013 working initially as a translator trainee in a translation company based in Jakarta, named Business Advisory Indonesia, a subsidiary of SSEK, one of the most prominent law firms in Indonesia. After about a year working as translator, I was promoted to be an editor and sometime later a project leader handling a team of junior translators. As a project leader, I was responsible for the quality of the translations done by the junior translators, while also giving them guidance in terms of translation procedures and quality. In addition to handling the junior translators, I also supervised the project administration staff to ensure that the translation project could be delivered on time and the formatting of the documents would consistently reflect the originals as good as possible.

In the company, I mostly translated and edited legal documents, such as contracts/agreements, notarial deeds, articles of association, court judgments, etc. Aside from legal documents, I also handled other types of documents, such as guidelines, standard operating procedures, software manuals, correspondence, architectural guidelines, and so on.

In October 2015, I decided to move on from my position as a project leader, and thereafter I was hired as an in-house translator for the Legal Compliance Division at Samsung Electronics Indonesia. In my new position, I provide bilingual version of all contracts available at the company and handle requests for translation from the other departments. At Samsung, I handle the translation and translation review of contracts, court judgments, correspondence, advertising materials, training materials, internal policies and regulations, laws and regulations, and so on. I would also provide linguistic advices to legal counsels and proofread legal wording made by the legal counsels.

Currently, I have decided to become a full time freelance translator in a number of international translation agencies, such as RWS Group and The Translation Gate.

In addition to my experience, I have also been awarded legal translator certifications from the Association of Indonesian Translators (Himpunan Penerjemah Indonesia – HPI) for Indonesian-English languages and vice versa.
