Source text - Portuguese RESUMO: O objetivo deste artigo é analisar o prazo prescricional da pretensão de devolução da comissão de corretagem em contratos de incorporação imobiliária. Examina-se a questão em face das exigências de segurança jurídica e coerência judicial. Pretende-se descrever o atual panorama da jurisprudência, que decorre da edição de precedente vinculante do Superior Tribunal de Justiça, e realizar pertinente distinção.

Translation - English ABSTRACT: The goal of this article is to analyze the limitations for claim of reimbursement of the amount paid by the consumer as a brokerage commission in of real estate development contracts. The issue is examined in the light of the requirements of legal certainty and judicial consistency. The intention is to describe the current panorama of jurisprudence, which results from the binding precedent edited by the Superior Court of Justice, and to make the pertinent distinctions.

I was born in Brazil and studied at the American School of Brasilia since age 5, having learned to read and write in English before Portuguese. At the American School I started my translation career and when I graduated in 1997, I received a degree as a translation and interpreting technician along with my high school diploma. I started working as a freelance translator while I was in college, where I studied to be a teacher of Brazilian Portuguese as Foreign Language and English. When I finished my double major I entered the Translation course to earn a BA in English Translation. Subsequently I enrolled the Translation Studies Masters program, which I had to pause, but despite being away from it I have not stopped the research attached to it.
Translating and working with texts is my passion. I enjoy working with all kinds of texts. I have translated medical records and brochures for the Brazilian Antarctic Program, news and scientific reports for the 8th World Water Forum, documents for the Operation Car Wash, among others.
