Profile
I am a bilingual Italian with roots both in the South and North of Italy. I have lived in England since 1974, returning regularly to Italy and maintaining closes links and an active interest in my native country.

I have over ten years experience of translating and interpreting, I am well read in both English and Italian and well informed about both cultures.
I get on well with people and greatly enjoy my work. I pride myself on being reliable, discreet and professional in my approach and able to cope with diverse and, when necessary, difficult situations.

Work
The bulk of my public service experience has involved working for health authorities and social services departments in diverse situations including hospitals, psychiatric units, specialist clinics etc. I have worked with a range of professionals - medics, social workers etc., and with a cross-section of clients of diverse ages, social backgrounds and from different countries (some having Italian as a first language, others as a second). I have an excellent knowledge of medical terminology and have also found that the seven years experience I gained while working as a paid community worker in the voluntary sector has been of great value to me in public service interpreting and translating.
Apart from the work I have done translating medical reports and correspondence for
Health authorities, I have also undertaken various commercial, technical and literary translations and translated Knitting patterns. I have done voice-overs
for the radio and educational organizations and I also teach English as a foreign language.
