Denis Gailor was a lecturer in English Literature/Language and English/English Linguistics at the Faculty of Arts, University of Palermo from 1974 to 2010 (now retired).He is the author of several essays on the English language and a few years ago with the Aracne company in Rome published a volume of 480 pages entitled Guida al verbo inglese (Guide to the English verb).He became a freelance translator in earnest in 1987 and over the years has done numerous translations of various types, with private companies and public bodies. The public bodies with which he has worked include the following: City of Palermo, various departments of the Sicilian Region, the City of Bagheria, Teatro Massimo Foundation, the Tourism Office of Caltagirone, INFEA (Madonie Park), Nebrodi Park, Terrasini Museum, Guttuso Archives, and the Superintendence for the Cultural and Environmental Heritage of Palermo. He has also translated many university research projects. He has worked with private translation agencies in Bologna, Genoa and Verona. For many years he translated the tourist magazines Sikania and Kalòs.
