С точки зрения идейной и практической борьбы по поводу отношений между работниками и работодателями современную переходную эпоху в России (с конца 1980-годов) правомерно разделить на три периода. Они отличаются друг от друга как по основному содержанию представлений и требований, так и по главным противоборствующим силам.
В предреволюционный и революционный период (1987-1991гг.) идейная и практическая борьба по поводу преобразования отношений между работниками и работодателями не выделялась как самостоятельная область действий. Она была включена в общедемократическую борьбу против всевластия тоталитарного государства, произвола номенклатурной (и особенно номенклатурно-партийной) администрации.Сама формула «работник — работодатель» приобрела актуальность позже.
В первые годы политической активизации общества расхождения в представлениях о демократии и свободе в социально-трудовой сфере воспринимались как фактор, мешающий консолидации демократических сил, и до поры до времени находились на периферии общественного сознания. Oднако с самого начала общедемократической борьбы спектр идей и требований, касающихся перемен в отношениях между трудящимися и государством, между трудящимися и администрацией предприятий, более или менее последовательно проецировал на социально-трудовую сферу существенно различные течения в концептуальном сознании.
Важным фактором, повлиявшим в дальнейшем на характер преобразований в социально-трудовой сфере (и в целом - на исторический выбор России в пользу капиталистического строя), была позиция значительной части зарождающегося нового профсоюзного движения.Она сформировалась под влиянием внесенной в него силами в общем-то горстки отечественных
учёных либерально-западной ориентации идеи о необходимости «приобщения страны к цивилизованному западному миру» (эта идея до сих пор остаётся руководящей в отечественном либерализме).

From the perspective of the ideological and practical struggle regarding the relations between employees and employers, it is appropriate to divide the modern transitional period in Russia ( from the end of 1980s) into three periods. These differ both in terms of the main content of concepts and requirements - as well as their - main antagonistic forces.
In the pre - revolutionary and revolutionary period ( 1987-1991), the ideological and practical struggle over conversion of relations between the employees and the employers was not singled out as an independent field of actions. It was included in the all-democratic struggle against the omnipotence of the totalitarian state and the arbitrariness of nomenclature (and especially of the party- nomenclature) administration. The formula itself “ employee - employer” acquired relevance later.
In the early years of political revitalization of the Russian society, discrepancies in the perception of democracy and freedom in both the social and labour sphere were seen as a factor that prevented the consolidation of democratic forces, and for some time, this remained in the periphery of public consciousness.
However, from the early start of the all-democratic struggle, a range of ideas and requirements relating to changes in the relations between the workers and the state, as well as, the workers and the management of enterprises, mainly consistently projected significantly different trends in the conceptual mind in the social and labour sphere.
An important factor contributing to further the nature of the transformation in the social and labour sphere ( and in general – the historical choice of Russia in favour of the capitalist system), was the position of the major part of the emerging new trade - union movement.
This aspect was formed under the influence of an idea that was - introduced by a handful of domestic scientists of Western-liberal orientation- about the need “to orient the country to the civilized Western world” ( this idea is still the leading one in domestic liberalism).

For the past seven years I have been working as an interpreter at IRB in Toronto. In order to prepare for my work I had to undertake online research of the packages used in refugee protection hearings to identify relevant documentation on specific human rights issues and country conditions in the countries of origin of refugee claimants.
