Source text - English Learn The Butterfly Swimming Style
The butterfly is a swimming style which involves swimming on the breast, while your both arms are moving simultaneously. The move is accompanied by the butterfly kick, or the dolphin kick, how some people prefer to call it. If other swimming styles like freestyle, backstroke or breaststroke can be swum properly also by beginners, the butterfly is a more difficult swimming style and it requires a really good technique and strong muscles.
Being one of the most difficult swimming strokes, the butterfly requires a lot of practice, but when you will manage to do it, you will understand how rewarding it is.
Therefore, here are some tips on how to learn the butterfly swimming stroke:
The arm movement – In the butterfly stroke, it is really important to use the correct arm movement. You need to put your arms above the head and to pull your hands towards tour body, in a semicircular move. At the end of this pull, start pushing your hands backwards in the water, along your body sides, passing the hips. You have to do it really fast. The last part of the stroke is the recovery, when you take your hands to the start position, facing outwards.
Master the kick – You have to kick with your legs like a dolphin or, if you prefer, like a mermaid. Your legs have to move simultaneously, twice for each stroke: a small kick, while your arms are moving forward, and a big kick, during the recovery time. The biggest mistake is not to alternate the kicks.
Involve your entire body – Keep in mind that your entire body should be involved, not only your arms and legs. Move it in a wave-like fashion, undulating it in an S shape. If you manage to synchronize your entire body, you will learn butterfly faster.
Learn how to breath – It is quite tricky to breath during the butterfly stroke. The perfect time to breath is when your arms are coming out of the water, during the recovery phase. Keep your head straight.
Get the perfect stroke – In order to get the perfect butterfly stroke, you need to combine all the elements: the arm stroke, the kick, the body movement and the breathing technique. The key to success is to synchronize them all.
