Source text - English ACKNOWLEDGMENTS Because the writing of this book was begun, continued and ended under the hospitable roof of the College of St Barnabas, my first thanks must go to its personnel, and to its warden and his wife, Howard and Lynne Such, to its residents and patients, to the nursing, caring, administrative, catering and cleaning staffs, since together they have created a rich Christian community of worship and fellowship, a context congenial to thinking and writing. When sometimes I have been preoccupied with these activities, I must have seemed an anti-social creature, but they have understood and forgiven me. Another community to which I am indebted is that of St John’s Church, Felbridge; to their vicar Stephen Bowen, his wife Mandy, and their church wardens Anne Butler and Malcolm Francis. When I have felt strong enough, they have kindly arranged for me to be transported there and back on Sundays. They knew that a book was brewing and encouraged me along the way. Dear client,

Please let me introduce myself first.

My name is Perdian Tumanan and I am interested in your translation project. I have more than nine years experience as translator and editor, and help establishing a small Christian publishing house in my country—translating English books into Indonesian. Mostly, I translate religion/spirituality/psychology books or article.

But I could also work on another subject, such as engineering, media, business, etc. I have a Bachelor degree in Engineering and Master of Theology degree.

I also have experiences for about 7 years teaching at the university and theological schools as adjunct lecturer on subject such as Philosophy of Religion, New Testament, History and Ethics. I also write in a journal and public newspaper as well.
For one and a half years, I was working with an International humanitarian NGO, World Vision Indonesia, based on West Kalimantan Area. I was responsible to develop regional cooperation and collaboration with cultural and faith leaders. This experience makes me quite familiar with various documents from worksheets, training tool, work reports, surveys, financial reports, etc.
This experience also makes me familiar while working with various documents from non-profit sector (such as: International NGO, UN agencies) and from the business / profit sector as well.

I could work 5 hours/day, 5 days a week.
