My first language interest was Spanish, which I began to study after taking my first trip to Mexico at the age of 14. Almost half of the people where I grew up (in Lancaster, PA) spoke Spanish, so I had plenty of opportunity to practice!
I continued to go on multiple trips to about 12 different countries, mostly in Latin America and Eastern Europe. I loved learning languages, and studied the language of each place where I went. After Spanish was Polish, then Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Romanian, and Ukrainian.
I began to study Portuguese and took a trip to Brazil for the first time in 2007. After a few more trips to Brazil, I married a Brazilian and moved to Rio de Janeiro. I taught English to Engineers and other professionals at Petrobras and Vale, and began to take on translation work as well.
Although I have interest in several languages(I love Russian!), I stick to working with Spanish and Portuguese since they are the languages that I have studied the most in and had constant exposure to. |
