BIOGRAPHY
Born in Argentina and raised in Germany, I was brought up in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment. My mother was a German-Spanish Interpreter and Translator for the Automotive Industry where I assisted her and began learning my trade. I hold a degree in Horticultural Gardening from Germany. I was a Staff Sergeant and Interpreter (German-English-Spanish) for military officers and NATO personnel in the German Army in Germany, Spain and Canada from 1984-1992. After an honorable discharge from the Army I became a State Certified Foreign Language Correspondent in Economics (German-English-Spanish) from the Private Berufsfachschule für Fremdsprachenberufe Bamberg der Euro-Sprachschule, Germany. I then studied to become a Technical Translator and Interpreter (German-English-Spanish) from the Institut für Fremdsprachen und Auslandskunde an der Universität in Erlangen, Germany. Upon completion of my studies in 1995, I worked as a Technical Translator and Interpreter for the Robert Bosch Corp. in Germany, Spain and USA for the Quality Assurance Department. I moved to the US in 2000 and joined one of the now largest Language Service Providers of the Southeast in April 2001, where I started out as an independent contract interpreter, staff interpreter/translator, Lead Interpreter and then Interpreter Manager for spoken languages. Part of my responsibilities were identifying new languages, recruiting, training and maintaining the skill levels of staff interpreters as well as independent contractors all over the US. I have been part of numerous translation projects as translator and proof reader. I have extensive knowledge to share about how to best meet the linguistic demands of clients and providers and how to succeed as an interpreter in the language industry. Besides my responsibilities as a Manager, I have been interpreting an average of 500 billable hours a year mainly in the medical and legal field and can count on years of experience of training countless linguists in many different languages to prepare them for the challenges of an interpreter’s life.
