• General Dynamics, MN, translation of a foreign request for proposal (RFP), I along with one other colleague, were temporarily employed by GD (US government requirement) to translate a lengthy and detailed request for proposal worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Because of my background and extensive experience, I was assigned the job of translating the more technical part of the request and to edit/review and prepare the final deliverable for the company’s executives to read and consequently prepare their proposal. (see testimonial by my boss then, below).
• Fort Jackson, SC, I was hired by World Wide Language Resources to translate/edit military manuals including PP slides. Also, part of my work was to train nine other translators on how to use computer applications, on consecutive interpreting and finding resources for those translators (both dictionaries and online resources).
• Doha, Qatar, worked as the lead Arabic linguist for US Air Force in Al-Udeid Airbase (2002-2003): Besides my job as the Arabic language coordinator, supervising the work of three other translators/interpreters, my duties included: reviewing and analyzing translated information (Arabic into English), liaison between Qatari officials and US Air Force high ranking officers, collecting information from local and regional media outlets and preparing a daily report on the current events related to the US forces in the region and the local public reactions to the daily changes in the preparation for the war against Iraq.
• Raytheon (Fullerton, CA): I was hired to be the chief translator/editor and to manage the work of nine other translators in an assignment to translate (English into Arabic) a 770-page military proposal including numerous PowerPoint slides. We worked on-site for 11 consecutive weeks. (review Certificate of Appreciation below)

• Supervised other translators in major translation and localization projects. Worked as a quality controller/reviewer in many demanding projects where quality was the essence of the work. In some projects with many translators working on the same project, quality assurance was a necessity otherwise the final deliverable would be a mess with different translation styles and different usage of Arabic terminology. I was the lead QA personnel: Raytheon military project, Ford Motor Company brochures and Fort Jackson project (mentioned above) to mention a few.

• In 1994, I was hired as an Arabic interpreter and escort for Arab delegates during the US Postal Union Main Convention (Detroit, MI). My duties required consecutive interpreting while the foreign delegates were making speeches in front of large audience. I accompanied the visitors to different locations and translated documents that were part of the convention.
• Worked as an interpreter/translator for: Action Tours, Smart Bus Company, law offices, health clinics …etc. Detroit, MI and LA, CA between 1992 to 1998.

1965-1986 United Nations Regional Offices, Beirut, Lebanon:
English language interpreter, instructor and translator: My duties included teaching the English language to junior high students in UNRWA schools, translating newsletters, directives, circulars, and instructions and interpreting between UN visitors and Middle Eastern personnel at the UN HQ in Beirut, Lebanon.

Political/Cultural Analyst:
2001-Present After 9/11, I have been called upon by different media outlets to either give my opinion on certain cultural matters or to validate the English interpreting of Arabic announcements and voice messages on Arabic media outlets such as Aljazeera and Al-Arabya TV stations. I was also called upon by Internet News outlets such as Wired News and others to talk about moving around between languages and other technicalities.
Educator:
1988-1996 Former Bilingual Educator/Translator/Community Liaison (Dearborn Public Schools, Dearborn, MI, 1988-1996):
Established a bilingual program for two high schools in Dearborn, MI (Edsel Ford and Dearborn High School). Developed a bilingual curriculum for teaching basic English, Arabic instruction and for newcomers, general how to get around knowledge. I also acted as a community liaison.
Bilingual classes were a mixture of Arab nationals from Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and many other Arab and Middle Eastern countries.
1965-1986 Middle School Teacher

I worked as an English and Math teacher in UNRWA schools and had numerous courses in teaching methods and techniques. Most of my teaching was in high and middle schools in US and my old country.
