9. De man die goed functioneert promoveren (en dus niet de man die niet goed functioneert, zodat je er geen last meer van hebt!).

Consistency at a small scale. It may sound like a subject that is larger than life and compelling, but consistency is also relevant at smaller scales.

1. Say the same things at the coffee corner as you do at meetings.
2. Observing your colleagues’ deadlines as judiciously as your manager’s.
3. As a manager, share the same open office space as the others.
4. Allocate your budget according to what you consider important.
5. Adhere to the same rules you impose on your team or colleagues.
6. Have your own priorities reflect what you claim to be important.
7. If you value cooperation, then provide your team with the means to exchange knowledge and information.
8. Explicitly reward desired behaviour during the next employee appraisal
9. Promote the employees who perform well (not those who do not - just to get them out of the way).
10. Fix that telephone system so that customers can be called back, thereby promoting customer satisfaction!

Cisplatin or cis-diamino-dichloro-platinum (DDP) is a heavy metal complex consisting of a central platinum atom surrounded by two chlorine atoms and two ammonia molecules in cis configuration. Cisplatin possesses biochemical propeties similar to those of bifunctional alkylating agents; it produces crosslinks between the two strands and within each single strand of the DNA double helix. It is not cycle specific.

Cisplatin penetrates the central nervous system to a low extent. Plasma levels of radioactivity in patients exhibit a biphasic decrease following the direct intravenous injection of a dose of tagged Cisplatin.

Cisplatin is excreted mostly along with urine. The urinary excretion exhibits 27 to 43 parts per 100 of the initial dose within 5 days of administering the dose. There is not enough evidence to indicate if biliary or intestinal excretion takes place.

Indications

Cisplatin is indicated as palliative therapy for the following types of tumors:

Metastatic testicular tumors: in fixed combination with other chemotherapies, as a therapy for metastatic testicular tumors that have undergone adequate surgery and/or radiotherapy. One fixed therapeutic combination is that of Cisplatin, bleomycin sulfate and vinblastine sulfate.

Metastatic ovarian tumors: in combination with other chemotherapies in patients with metastatic ovarian tumors that have already undergone surgery or radiotherapy. One fixed therapeutic combination is that of Cisplatin and doxorubicin hydrochloride.

TAV. 1:

1/1:
Striscia. Interno giorno.

1/2:
In evidenza c’è Stephen.

EFFETTO porta: Tap Tap Tap

1/3:

VOCE dall’esterno: Servizio in camera. Il suo pranzo, signore!

1/4:
In evidenza c’è sempre Stephen.

STEPHEN: Non ho ordinato niente!

CREATURA: RRRRRROW!
STEPHEN: AAAARGH!

TABLE 1:

1/1
Strip. Inside - Day. We are in Stephen Strange’s hotel room. The lad is sunk in a chair and is watching TV with a bored expression. He holds the remote control in one hand. Next to the chair are some magazines and a daily paper. Images from some entertainment news program pass across the screen (with a newsreader in the studio and brief news clips running along the lower strip of the screen – it could be an economic newscast with figures and stock symbols). In the panel’s background are windows overlooking the city.

1/2
Stephen in view. The lad has been drawn by knocks on the room’s door. Someone is knocking softly and Stephen rises from his position.

[SOUND EFFECT door]: Tap Tap Tap

1/3
Stephen heads for the door only to approach it without opening it. A response is heard coming from the other side of the door.

STEPHEN: Yes?
Outside VOICE (O.S.): Room service. Your meal, sir!

1/4
Stephen still in view. The lad closes the door enough to spot outside the figure of a young and graceful waitress in her work uniform). Through the gap we see the smiling girl. Her cordial expression must contrast with her trick reply.

STEPHEN: I did not order anything! There must be a mistake...
WAITRESS: There is no mistake, Strange, ... because I wasn’t talking to you.

1/5:
Large vignette. Medium View of the hotel corridor. The framing is from slightly above. Present is a monstruous creature, tall and massive (note: must not be taller than Simon Garth). The monster (which we will better see in the next page) must be an abnormal being, a cross between an insect and a humanoid figure, encased in a shell bristling with spikes and clawed arms. Between the monster in the corridor and Stephen who is petrified with terror and surprise, is the girl on the threshold of his room. The waitress turns to the monster and indicates Stephen by looking at him (inviting the monster to attack the lad).

WAITRESS: Your meal, sir
STEPHEN: !

TABLE 2:

2/1:
Medium View. The monster rushes forward and attacks Strange, sinking its clawed fingers in the lad’s chest. The creature attacks without uttering a word; Stephen is no match for the monster and is overwhelmed by the attack.

CREATURE: RRRRRROW!
STEPHEN: AAAARGH!

Bio
Am a U.S. citizen but have lived mostly in Europe. I speak 5 languages as a result of having lived and worked in Spain, Italy, Holland, the U.K. and Switzerland.

Have degrees in physics and mathematics and have built up expertises in other fields as a result of career moves. For translation purposes I can do work in just about all scientific and technical fields, in ICT, in publishing and management. Thanks to 20-years' work at a legal publisher, I can also do general legal translations. All work I do in specialist fields is painstakingly researched to assure the correct use of terms and phraseology.

Because of a day job in the biotechnology field (which includes translation), I do translations during evenings and weekends. My time zone is Amsterdam.
