Translation - English The meeting scheduled today between President Mahmoud Abbas and U.S. President Barack Obama, to discuss developments in negotiations and obstacles to reaching a framework agreement, is a milestone in the future of the peace process after negotiations reached an impasse due to the uncompromising positions of the Israeli government in the various core issues for a permanent solution. This is besides the Israeli provisions aimed at the erosion of the rights of the Palestinian people, on the one hand, and blocking the path of advancement of peace efforts, on the other, in addition to the various Israeli practices on the ground, particularly settlement, the further implementation of the Judaization of Jerusalem, the Gaza blockade, raids, arrests and killings etc. - practices which in themselves constitute gross violations of international law and emphasize the unwillingness of the Israeli side to reach a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue.
