Hello! ¡Hola! Olá! Hola! I've been fascinated by languages for as long as I can remember. I have a clear memory of being 9 years old, watching a history documentary about World War II, and hearing people speak German. I immediately rushed to the family computer and downloaded software to begin learning German. I needed to understand and respond to those people I saw on TV. I think that's where the translator spirit came from. Later on I did the same with Spanish. Then with Portuguese. And later with Catalan. (Those three stuck.) At some point I also attempted Japanese.... It was a good attempt.
I'm celebrating my 10th anniversary of living in Spain, currently in Madrid, and in the same time I've been working with varying parts of language. As a teacher, as a foreign language teaching consultant, and as a translator, interpreter, and editor. It's a great advantage to live surrounded by foreign language. No matter how much you learn, there's always something you still don't know. |
