Greek to English: Pottery Poetry (intertitles for a documentary on pottery -with notions of science) General field: Other Detailed field: Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting

Translation - English The raw material.
Ancient land of Aegina,
rare argil.
Under the temple
of Athena Aphaea,
the last remaining craftsmen
in the village of Mesagros
mould
a language of clay;
An ancient language.
The argillaceous earth must be
Cracked
Washed
Melted
Moulded.
To later turn into clay.
The sun, the air and time;
they either create or ruin.
At the father’s workshop.
From generation to generation,
the making of clay
is a craft
that must never fade away.
The wheel.
The craftsman.
The hands.
The mind.
And the item.
Giorgos.
Ηe is painting on the pitchers
and creates the carved shapes
of the sky and the sea.
The pitcher of Aegina.
It holds fresh water,
wine,
for every event;
of joy or sorrow.
The celebration of Leidinos
in Kypseli.
The items must be
baked, enamelled
and baked again
to achieve their colour.
All around the island,
the celebrations of Klidon are taking place.
The clay pitcher predicts
the future
of men.
And they dance
over the fire.
The preparation of the fire.
Only the Earth and the Earth alone offers
the finest materials
for a perfect shape
and a unique durability.
Without any support,
the remaining artisans of an ancient craft
still bake hand-made clay today,
using olive-tree leaves and wood.
Scientists turn to ancient Greek pottery
in order to design spaceships that are even
more resistant to heat!
Experts from Getty Conservation Institute,
Stanford’s National Accelerator Laboratory
and Aerospace Corporation,
are using x-rays in an attempt to accurately trace the molecular structure
of the ancient Attic vessels and the way they were created.

English to Greek: The stagnation Goddess - Η Θεά της αποτελμάτωσης General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English Τhe marshes of the universe
were meant for her to master
to keep them wet, to keep them soft, prepared for disaster
when flying across the muddy fields, the swamps and all the bogs,
all the still waters worship her and sacrifice some dogs
their blood would give the mighty sloughs a sense of the divine
who needs the crops? who needs the sheep? the virgin, or the wine?
the waters shall remain unmoved for as long as she's the mistress
refuse to stir, decline to whisk, her unconquerable fortress
mind you, mindless traveller as you wearily walk around
for the muddy, evil desciples that lurk upon the ground
for some exhausted victims, they avidly do crave
to drive them peacefully and quick to the dampness of their grave
even the mightiest enemy, which naturally is fire,
cannot defeat the goddesse's arms; the morass and the mire.
τι να τις κανεις τις σοδειες, αμνους, παρθενες και κρασια;
