Source text - English Examining the lifecycle of a bike – and its green credentials
By following a bike from the origins of its parts to how it is disposed of, you can gauge how eco-friendly yours is
When it comes to emissions from cycling, the carbon dioxide that comes out of your average pair of lungs is far less than that of a car or bus.
But with so many more bikes on the road these days, where do they all come from – and how much does the environmental impact of making and disposing of them affect how green they are? To know this, we have to look at the lifecycle of the bike. From the point that the raw materials are dug, or pumped in the case of oil for tyres' synthetic rubber, out of the ground – to the point when the bike and parts reach the end of their lives.
That's why I am running a workshop on Saturday at the Festival of Dangerous Ideas 2012 where I'll be talking more about the life of the bicycle. Through the lens of constructing a piece of art out of salvaged bike parts, we'll be discussing what we know – and what we don't – about where bikes come from and where they end up.
It turns out that little is transparent in the manufacture of bike parts. With a few high-end exceptions, like Brompton for example, most frames are made in the far east: China and Taiwan mainly, and some in Vietnam and Cambodia. But the supply chain is often obscured by the fact that bike brands change their suppliers between models. In fact, finding a company that tells you the location of its factory is a rare treat, and while high-end bespoke manufacturers might be happy to tell you the provenance of your pedal-pusher, mass manufacturers rarely are.
I tried to track down the provenance of my own Kona Paddy Wagon from 2007, in the hope that specificity might be the key to getting some answers. The tubing is Dedacciai, which was almost certainly made in Taiwan, according to Cory Blackwood at Kona. The tubes would have been then cut and welded together in the Kona factory in Hodaka, then shipped out. Other parts could come from all over, says Blackwood, including the US where some high-end parts are made, but they must be shipped to Taiwan for assembly. Kona refreshingly make no secret of this, transparently stating on their website that "it is almost impossible to get even half the parts on a bike from one country". The specialized carbon forks, bespoke to my bike, are likely to come from Taiwan too, though at the time of writing the company had still not responded to my inquiry.
But where would the steel have come from? Emissions from producing steel should not be ignored – the World Steel Association states that approximately 1.9 tonnes of carbon dioxide is produced for every tonne of steel, so a fairly light frame is still going to be responsible for over 5kg of CO2, even before it is manufactured into tubes, welded into shape or shipped. Using recycled steel might help, but according to Leo Bonanni, the founder of sourcemap.com – a site that provides crowdsourced or company-seeded maps to show where your goods have come from – finding out the source of raw materials is difficult. "Given how many countries iron is mined in and the use of recycled ore, it is virtually impossible to track the source or steel, unlike more precious metals," he says. What it would take, he continues, is co-operation from the companies involved.
Sourcemap hosts only a couple of maps pertaining to bikes. Cycling behemoth Giant is included, with the majority of its parts made in Taiwan, with some shipped over from origins in Europe for assembly in the Taiwanese factory. Cube was more transparent with its map, even showing where the manganese and copper were sourced for some of their parts.
With information like this you could work out not just the carbon, but pollution too.
Of course it's not just the origin of the bike that will have an environmental impact, it's the way we dispose of cycling waste too. I make artworks out of old cycles, and in sourcing parts for my work I've come into contact with a lot of different cycle shops with different attitudes to disposing of their waste.
Lock 7 near Broadway Market in east London ensures that everything from its environmentally savvy operation gets recycled – even the dilapidated tyres get mashed up and mixed with asphalt, owner Kathryn Burgess told me as she let me rifle through their bins. When I approached my local branch of cycle shop chain Cycle Surgery, I was told: "We recycle as much as we can, but we don't have the resources".
At least we know where some small fraction of London's discarded bikes end up: once we've made the artwork on Saturday it will provide the endpoint for a sourcemap. As far as they can be identified, I will be tracing the origins of the various components, using crowdsourcing, Bonanni and any manufacturers who believe that transparency is the best way to win public approbation. The future for green cycling surely is for us all to know a bit more about the bikes we consume and how best to dispose of them once they have served us so well.

In contrast, thanks to Android’s greater empowerment of its apps, I was easily able to mold the Galaxy Tab 2.1 into a highly personalized tablet experience, and do things on it that I haven’t a clue how to accomplish on an iOS device.

I have been discussing the epidemic of sexually transmitted diseases that is running rampant in this country and around the world. Diseases such as chlamydia, human papilloma virus, herpes, hepatitis B, trichomonas, pelvic inflammatory disease, and AIDS have joined syphilis and gonorrhea in just the last 30 years. There is no question that the fruits of the sexual revolution, or sexual convulsion as one author put it, have been devastating. I have also shown how our teenagers are at a greater risk for sexually transmitted diseases than are adults and that sex-education based on condom use is ineffective and misleading. There is only one message that offers health, hope, and joy to today's teenagers. We need to teach single people to save intercourse for marriage.
Sex is a wonderful gift, but if uncontrolled, it has a great capacity for evil as well as good. Our bodies were not made to have multiple sex partners. Almost all risk of STD and out of wedlock pregnancy can be avoided by saving intercourse for marriage. And it can be done.
Statistics show clearly that in schools that teach a sex education program that emphasizes saving intercourse for marriage, the teen pregnancy rate drops dramatically in as little as one year. In San Marcos, California, a high school used a federally funded program ("Teen Aid") which emphasizes saving intercourse until marriage. Before using the program there were 147 pregnancies out of 600 girls. Within two years, the number of pregnancies plummeted to 20 out of 600 girls.(3) In Jessup, Georgia, upon instituting the "Sex Respect" program, the number of pregnancies out of 340 female students dropped from 17 to 13 to 11 to 3 in successive years.
Delaying intercourse until teens are older is not a naive proposal. Over 50% of the females and 40% of the males ages 15 to 19 have not had intercourse. While not a majority, they are living proof that teens can control their sexual desires. Current condom-based sex-education programs basically teach teenagers that they cannot control their sexual desires, and that they must use condoms to protect themselves. It is not a big leap from teenagers being unable to control their sexual desires to being unable to control their hate, greed, anger, and prejudice. This is not the right message for our teenagers! Teenagers are willing to discipline themselves for things they want and desire and are convinced are beneficial. Girls get up early for drill team practice. Boys train in the off-season with weights to get stronger for athletic competition. Our teens can also be disciplined in their sexual lives if they have the right information to make logical choices. Saving sex for marriage is the common sense solution. In fact, it is the only solution. We don't hesitate to tell our kids not to use drugs, and most don't. We tell our kids it's unhealthy to smoke, and most do not. We tell our kids not to use marijuana, and most do not.
It is normal and healthy not to have sex until marriage. • Enlevez tous les matériaux d’emballage.
• Nettoyez et séchez l’appareil en suivant la procédure indiquée dans la section « NETTOYAGE ET ENTRETIEN ».
• Il faut graisser les plaques antiadhésives pour protéger leur revêtement antiadhésif.
• Lors de la première utilisation une odeur peut se dégager, laisser l’appareil chauffer pendant 5 minutes puis nettoyez et séchez l’appareil en suivant la procédure indiquée dans la section « NETTOYAGE ET ENTRETIEN ».
NETTOYAGE ET ENTRETIEN
1. Avant de nettoyer l'appareil, débranchez la fiche du cordon d'alimentation de la prise électrique et attendez que l'appareil se refroidisse complètement.
2. S’il y a des résidus de nourriture collés sur les plaques, éliminez-les. Les plaques sont recouvertes d’un revêtement antiadhésif qui peut être endommagé en cas de contact avec des objets tranchants/pointus. Par conséquent, vous ne devez utiliser que des accessoires (spatule, etc.) en plastique ou en bois. N’utilisez pas de détergent agressif ou abrasif.
Les plaques ne doivent pas être nettoyées à l'eau très chaude.
Nettoyez le boîtier de l’appareil avec un chiffon doux et humide en utilisant si nécessaire un produit nettoyant doux.
Ne mettez pas l’appareil dans une machine à laver la vaisselle.
N’immergez jamais l’appareil dans un liquide.
Ne pas utiliser un nettoyeur à vapeur pour nettoyer votre appareil
3. Séchez l’appareil avant de le rebrancher sur une alimentation électrique.
4. Vous pouvez ranger l’appareil à la verticale ou l’horizontale dans un endroit sec et aéré.

aussi, en cours d’instance, exposer ses moyens par lettre adressée au Juge à condition de justifier que la partie adverse en a eu connaissance avant l’audience, par lettre recommandée avec demande d’avis de réception. La partie qui use de cette faculté peut ne pas se présenter à l’audience. Le jugement rendu dans ces conditions est contradictoire. Néanmoins, le Juge a toujours la faculté d’ordonner que les parties se présentent devant lui.
ARTICLE 388-1 DU CODE CIVIL
Dans toutes les procédures le concernant, le mineur capable de discernement peut, sans préjudice des dispositions prévoyant son intervention ou son consentement, être entendu par le juge ou lorsque son intérêt le commande par la personne désignée par le juge à cet effet. Cette audition est de droit lorsque le mineur en fait la demande. Lorsque le mineur refuse d’être entendu, le juge apprécie le bien-fondé de ce redus. Il peut être entendu seul, avec un avocat ou une personne de son choix. Si ce choix n’apparaît pas conforme à l’intérêt du mineur, le juge peut procéder à la désignation d’une autre personne. L’audition du mineur ne lui confère pas la qualité de partie à la procédure.
Le Juge s’assure que le mineur a été informé de son droit à être entendu et à être assisté d’un avocat.

يتأكد القاضي من كون القاصر على علم بحقه في الادلاء بأقواله و أن يحصل على مساعدة محام.
عقوبة عدم الحضور: مقتطف من الفصل 56 من قانون الإجراءات المدنية الجديد:
" في حالة عدم حضور المدعى عليهم، فإنهم سيكونون عرضة لحكم يصدر ضدهم مبني فقط على الحجج المقدمة من خصمهم".
