I am from Pakistan, and grew up speaking, reading and writing Pashto, Urdu and English, since primary school. Pashto was my family's local language, and English and Urdu are both official national languages of Pakistan.
I've worked as a linguist for the past four years in the USA, including consecutive interpreting, translation, training, role playing, and phone interpreting. I'm a good listener, I have broad experience, and my facility in interpreting and translating Pashto, Urdu and English is in the top tier.
As on-staff interpreter for a petroleum marketer for 2 years, I handled interpreting during staff meetings, and translating interdepartmental memos, which required Pashto, English, and Punjabi. For one year I taught Pashto and Urdu to English-speaking students, as instructor for the ABC Language School in Washington, DC. Since receiving my security clearance in 2010, I have periodically worked as a linguist and role player for the US Army, providing language and cultural training. For the past 2 years I have served as a phone interpreter for Pashto/English and Urdu/English, for Language Line and Pacific Interpreters.
Since my schedule is completely flexible, once I accept a time-sensitive project, I am able to make it my top priority. |
