I am native of Poznan, a city in Western Poland. I studied law before leaving the country in 1981. Two years in England were followed by 14 years in Germany. There, at the Technical University of Cologne, I acquired formal qualifications as a translator and embarked on a freelance career in this field.
Since 1997 I have continued doing this from my new home in South East Kent. I am a member of British, Polish, and German professional translator organisations (ITI, CIoL, TEPIS and BDÜ respectively).
TRANSLATION
● from English, German, and Spanish INTO Polish.
● FROM Polish into English and German. All texts are verified by my partners, competent native speakers, which not only guarantees the expected level of accuracy, but ensures that the text does not read like a translation or, even, that your message does not turn into a bad joke.
● legal, commercial (I specialise in transport/haulage), insurance, environment, school diplomas, certificates, private letters
● if required, formal certifications of Polish or German sworn translators and self-certified translations in the UK (no category of 'sworn translator' exists in this country, no matter what you may have been told)
INTERPRETING
I began offering INTERPRETING services in 2000, and to date have completed several hundreds of hours of interpreting for the Customs, courts, police, public services, solicitor firms, probation services, and private customers. Last year I was awarded a Certificate of Commendation for my interpreting services to the Canterbury Crown Court.
In 2002 the Home Office assessed me as a Polish language interpreter; three years later a similar assessment was made for the German language.
For the past four years I have served as an assessor for the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting examinations. |
