English to Indonesian: Schistosomiasis in Indonesia
General field: Medical
Detailed field: Medical (general)
Source text - English
In Indonesia, schistosomiasis is caused by the parasite, Schistosoma japonicum, and the intermediate host is Oncomelania hupensis lindoensis, an amphibious snail. The disease is limited to three very isolated endemic areas, the Napu, Lindu and Bada Valley, in the province of Central Sulawesi. There are about 50,000 people at risk of schistosomiasis. The first human case and the first foci were reported in 1937. A comprehensive control programme was initiated in 1973, and the infection prevalence among the inhabitants was very high: infection prevalence in the Lindu area was between 12% and 70% in 1972, and in the Winowange in the Napu valley infection prevalence was 72% in 1973. With the implementation of the Central Sulawesi Integrate Area Development and Conservation Project (CSIADCP) implemented from 1998 to 2004, the prevalence of schistosomiasis decreased markedly.

A Ministry of Health and World Health Organization mission was held on 24 – 26 June 2010 to discuss process toward finalization of detailed action plans and strategies for elimination of schistosomiasis. Ministry of Health and World Health Organization Follow up mission was held on 02-04 November 2010. The mission further reviewed schistosomiasis situation and discuss further process toward finalization of detail action plans to eliminate the disease. The Plan of Action Programme towards the Elimination of Schistosomiasis from 2011 to 2014 was developed. In March 2012, a cross sectoral team has been established through a Governor Decree to work together on schistosomiasis elimination. Current assessment of the national programme for schistosomiasis control in Indonesia was conducted from 17-24 September 2012.

Kasus manusia pertama dan fokus pertama dilaporkan pada tahun 1937. Program penanggulangan schistosomiasis secara komprehensif dimulai pada1973 dengan prevalensi infeksi di penduduk yang sangat tinggi. Prevalensi infeksi di Lindu pada tahun 1972 adalah sekitar 12-70% dan di Winowange di lembah Napu adalah 72% pada tahun 1973. Bio
Thank you for visiting my profile in proZ.

I am a clinical pathologist graduated from Medical Faculty of Gadjah Mada University who had numerous opportunities to do many activities. From 2005 to 2010, I had chances to be active in many organizations and had learned facilitation skills and team-cooperation. Beside active in the organizations, good time management made me got many academic achievements on faculty, regional and national level. Previously, I worked for World Health Organization country office for Indonesia as technical officer for Malaria-Vector Borne Diseases-Neglected Tropical Diseases. I got my double degrees, Clinical Pathologist and Master Degree of Clinical Medicine, since 2015 up to July 2019.  I am a hard worker, I am used to join voluntary and humanitarian works that had shown me the feeling of blessing and joy full of helping other people. So far, I also have been active on UN Online Volunteer, and have joined some International NGOs as online volunteer. I also has experience as an volunteer (English-Indonesia translator) of Community Empowerment Collective Society (CEC). This organization creates, edits, produces and distributes training material for community workers and their trainers and coordinators, to encourage the empowerment of low-income communities, towards self-reliance and sustainable development, with a focus on least-developed nations. CEC is registered in Canada. My duty was as an English-Indonesian translator.

My journey as an translator have been starting long time ago, since 2005. For me, translating not only "changing the language of the text", but also transferring the knowledge inside of the text. Many English medical books have been translating into Indonesian. However, due to the basic of the translator is not medicine, the important knowledge inside of it can get blur. I may not have formal education as a translator. However, I believe in my personal translation skill and experiences. I have many experiences in translating English-Indonesian (vv), with a quite big range of medical translating jobs --from journal into big books. I have translated journal since in medical faculty, and these days, some guidelines of WHO has been translated. Moreover, my professional language is English.

Here is the translated documents by me (book or just part of the document), some of them can be accessed freely for national program usage:
-Assessment of the National Schistosomiasis Control Programme in Indonesia.
-Malaria External Review, September 2011.
-Malaria National Strategic Plan.
-WHO National Strategic Plan.

I assure you absolute confidentiality with good time management to give service and full capacity of 1,500—5,000 words per day for medical translation, editing and proofreading project. I am a very keen researcher, aiming for accuracy by doing the research necessary to obtain the exact term/terminology and to produce translated texts with the highest degree of precision. I also try to update my resume regularly. Feel free to see it in provided attachment (limited access or upon request).
