Source text - Portuguese Este é o contexto da vida de Emanuel: imigração, religiosidade intensa, casamento aos 18 anos, nascimento de duas filhas, cujos
nomes também são escolhidos na Bíblia, e com ele vemos o nascimento de uma nova família: pai, mãe e duas filhas.
A primeira crise delirante ocorre em uma feira popular próxima à torre de televisão em que começa a falar palavras em espanhol e em outras línguas, crendo estar na Torre de Babel. Tira as roupas para dar aos pobres, citando trecho da Bíblia e dizendo ser "o filho do Pai nosso que está no céu". Levado pelos bombeiros para o hospital psiquiátrico, relata aos médicos que esteve durante 40 dias e 40 noites no deserto falando com "Deus Pai".
O fato desencadeador dessa crise foi o sequestro e roubo que sofreu, após o qual foi encontrado vagando pelo cerrado, em
seguida sendo levado para sua casa.
O primeiro diagnóstico é dado após sua internação. O diagnóstico psiquiátrico foi apresentado em uma linguagem numérica desconhecida pela família, restrita à área profissional.
Translation - English This is the context of Emanuel’s life: migration, intense religiosity, married at age 18, the birth of two daughters whose names are also taken from the Bible, and it is within this context we see the birth of a new family: father, mother and two daughters.
The first delirious crisis occurs in a popular market near the television tower where he starts speaking in Spanish and other languages believing he is in the Tower of Babel. He takes off his clothes to give to the poor while quoting the Bible, claiming to be "the son of our Father in heaven." Taken by firefighters to the psychiatric hospital, he tells the doctors that he spent 40 days and 40 nights in the desert talking to "God the Father."
The event that triggered this crisis was the kidnapping and robbery he suffered, after which he was found roaming the countryside before being taken to his home.
The initial diagnosis is given after his admission to hospital. The psychiatric diagnosis was presented in a numerical language unfamiliar to the family, limited to professionals.

The considerable development of qualitative methods over the last 20 years is intrinsically related to the "linguistic turn". The assumption that recorded texts are the basic data for all scientific research is therefore responsible for that prevalence of text interpretation methods and for such particular "fixation" on texts within qualitative methodologies. However, a difference has to be established between communication about (über) image and communication through (durch) image. Methodological access to the pre-conceptual or 'atheoretical' understanding was introduced in the 1920s by the iconology of Erwin Panofsky and his contemporary Karl Mannheim with his documental interpretation method. Important correspondences can be demonstrated between the two approaches as well as regarding the field of semiotics. Based on the understanding that the iconic character in its obstinateness is not properly available to us through language, we may conclude – referenced in the aforementioned authors as well as in Barthes, Foucault, and Imdahl – that apprehending an
image's peculiarities implies suspending, "placing in parentheses" our connotations (based on the iconographic previous knowledge mediated by language) as much as possible. Methodologically, the iconic character can only be reconstructed through the description of form, especially image's planimetric structure. The documental
method of image interpretation is fit to face such challenge.

O considerável desenvolvimento dos métodos qualitativos durante os últimos vinte anos está intrinsecamente relacionado à "virada lingüística" (linguistic turn). A presunção de que textos gravados constituem os dados básicos em todas as pesquisas científicas é conseqüentemente responsável por esta predominância dos métodos de interpretação de textos e por esta "fixação" particular sobre os textos no âmbito das metodologias qualitativas. No entanto é preciso estabelecer uma diferença entre a comunicação sobre (über) a imagem e a comunicação através (durch) da imagem. O acesso metodológico à compreensão pré-concetual ou 'ateórica' foi introduzido, nos anos 1920, pela iconologia de Erwin Panofsky e pelo seu contemporâneo Karl Mannheim com
seu método documentário de interpretação. Importantes correspondências entre ambas abordagens, assim como em relação ao campo da semiótica podem ser demonstradas. Com base no discernimento de que o caráter icônico em sua obstinação não nos é acessível de forma adequada pela linguagem, podemos concluir – pautados nos autores acima, assim como em Barthes, Focault e Imdahl – que a apreensão das peculiaridades de uma imagem implica em uma suspensão, em um "colocar entre parênteses" as nossas conotações (fundamentadas no pré-conhecimento iconográfico mediado pela linguagem) tanto quanto possível. Metodologicamente, o caráter icônico só pode ser reconstruído através da descrição da forma, sobretudo de estrutura planimétrica da imagem. O método documentário de interpretação de imagens é um procedimento apropriado para o enfrentamento deste desafio.

Nascido no Rio de Janeiro, em 1907, Oscar Niemeyer tem sido o arquiteto brasileiro que acumula o maior número de prêmios internacionais, bem como exibe um conjunto de obras realizadas no Brasil e no exterior que o coloca como um dos expoentes da arquitetura universal.
Formado em 1934 pela Escola Nacional de Belas Artes, o primeiro trabalho que elaborou - como membro da equipe liderada por Lúcio Costa e consultoria de Le Corbusier - para a sede do Ministério de Educação e Saúde em 1936, caracterizou-se como um marco da arquitetura moderna mundial.
Em 1940, com a obra da Pampulha - Cassino, Casa do Baile, Iate Club, e a Igreja de São Francisco de Assis - passa a ser conhecido internacionalmente, demonstrando com formas livres as possibilidades do concreto armado, destoantes da linguagem corrente da arquitetura racionalista de então.
Translation - English Biography of Oscar Niemeyer
Born in Rio de Janeiro, in 1907, Oscar Niemeyer is the Brazilian architect who has accumulated the largest number of international awards. He has authored a body of work throughout Brazil and overseas that have placed him as one of the exponents of universal architecture.
Upon graduation from the National School of Fine Arts in 1934, the first design that he created – as a member of a team led by Lúcio Costa under the consultancy of Le Corbusier – to headquarter the Ministry of Health and Education in 1936, represented him as a milestone of worldwide modern architecture.
In 1940, with the project of Pampulha (Casino, Dance Hall, Yacht Club, and the Church of Saint Francis of Assisi) he comes to be known internationally by demonstrating the possibilities of reinforced concrete through free forms that clashed with the language of rationalistic architecture current from that time.
