BERLITZ como centros de enseñanza en idiomas se crea hace más de 130 años y tiene origen norteamericano basándose en las ponencias del pedagogo norteamericano de origen alemán Maximiliam Berlitz cuyo método didáctico de enseñanza en lenguas vivas se basa en un método “directo” de enseñanza, consistente esencialmente en asociar la visión de un objeto o de una acción con las palabras que los designan. Fue tal el éxito, que las escuelas Berlitz se multiplicaron en el mundo y varios centenares de estas escuelas han formado, desde su creación, numerosos alumnos.
El método Berlitz continúa siendo uno de los más cómodos cuando se trata de adquirir rápidamente el vocabulario de la vida práctica de dicho idioma.
En la década de los 70 y 80 se establece en España y se realiza la apertura de centros de enseñanza en las principales ciudades nacionales o aquellas con más demanda en la formación de esta materia como son: Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla y Palma de Mallorca.
En 1993 pasan a formar parte de la corporación Benesse, una de las principales multinacionales en la enseñanza de idiomas.
Actualmente la mayor parte de los cursos que imparte son presenciales, en distintas modalidades, grupos, preparación de exámenes, niños y adolescentes, one to one, etc. Del mismo modo hay una apuesta importante en la implantación de nuevos modelos de negocio como la formación telefónica, virtual, on line y cursos en el extranjero.
Cabe reseñar que el 60% de su facturación, aproximadamente, se realiza a empresas, teniendo un departamento comercial específico para estas. El resto es a particulares.
Translation - English INTRODUCTION
BERLITZ language teaching centres were created over 130 years ago in North America based on the presentations of the North American educationalist, of German origin, Maximilian Berlitz. His didactic teaching methodology for modern languages is based on a “direct” method of teaching, consisting essentially of associating seeing an object or an action with the word that expresses it. His method was so successful that the Berlitz schools spread throughout the world and since their creation several hundred schools have taught large numbers of students.
The Berlitz methodology continues to be one of the most convenient methods for fast learning of the practical, day-to-day vocabulary of any language.
In the 70s and 80s Berlitz arrived in Spain and opened teaching centres in the main national cities or those where there was the greatest demand such as: Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville and Palma de Mallorca.
In 1993 they became part of the Benesse Corporation, one of the main multinational language teaching organizations. At the current time, most of the courses are on-site, in various formats, groups, exam preparation, classes for children and young people, one to one, etc. There is also a significant commitment to introducing new business models such as teaching over the phone, virtual lessons, on-line lessons and courses abroad.
It should be pointed out that approximately 60% of the income comes from companies, and there is a specific business department for this. The rest of the income comes from individuals.

Source text - Spanish De las tres grandes corrientes emigratorias españolas que adquieren notable volumen ya en el siglo XIX las correspondientes a Iberoamérica y al norte de Africa, sobre todo en su dimensión económica, y la que se dirige a Francia, tanto en su componente económica como política, es seguramente la segunda, la dirigida a la Argelia francés, la que hasta ahora había quedado más marginada por la investigación histórica. No es que las otras dos corrientes, la iberoamericana y la ultrapirenaica, hayan sido objetos de frecuentes e importantes estudios. Sobre todo la que se dirige al otro lado del Atlántico que todavía no ha encontrado en el país emisor, obviamente el más indicado para su examen global, el tratamiento en profundidad al que su importancia le hace acreedora, pues sí hay – reconocemos con gusto – algunas meritorias visiones de conjunto en obras de carácter demográfico, todavía perduran notables lagunas en el simple conocimiento de la magnitud de las distintas corrientes transatlánticas, sobre todo durante el siglo XIX. Y desde luego aún no se ha publicado, a nuestro conocimiento, el estudio de la amplitud e importancia que la extraordinaria emigración hace Iberoamérica merece no sólo desde un punto de vista demográfico sino histórico y sociocultural.
Translation - English Of the three great Spanish emigratory flows which attained a remarkable volume by the 19th century, the emigratory flow to French Algeria had, up to now, been of marginal significance for historical investigation. Of primary importance were those relating to Latin America and North Africa because of their economic size; in second place, undoubtedly, was the emigration to France, because of both its economic and political elements. It would not be true to say that these latter two emigrational routes, the Latin American and the Trans-Pyrenean have been the subject of numerous and important studies. Most importantly, the transatlantic emigrational flow has still not received the in-depth treatment which its importance warrants in its country of origin, surely the most suitable place to undertake a comprehensive study. We are very happy to recognize that some commendable global analyses do exist in works of a demographic nature but there still remain conspicuous gaps in our basic knowledge of the magnitude of the different transatlantic flows, especially in the nineteenth century. And, of course, no-one has yet published, to our knowledge, a study of the extent and importance that the extraordinary emigration to Latin America deserves, not only from a demographic but also from a historical and socio-cultural point of view.

Seguramente éste sea el método más económico de todos los empleados para la desinfección. Consiste en llenar botellas de agua y posarlas en tejados de hierro corrugado entre 6 y 48 horas, dependiendo de la intensidad de la radiación solar. Si la temperatura es de más de 50ºC el tiempo de exposición es de 1 hora, pero teniendo la precaución de dejarlo enfriar después. El sistema es altamente efectivo contra bacterias (99,99%), virus (algo menor) y protozoos.
Objetivos
Mantener el agua de consumo humano dentro de unos parámetros higiénicos y de salubridad, reduciendo los riesgos de contraer enfermedades diarreicas y parasitarias.

Translation - English Definition
This is definitely the most economical method of all those used for disinfection. It consists of filling bottles with water and placing them on corrugated iron roofs for between 6 and 48 hours, depending on the intensity of the solar radiation. If the temperature is above 50ºC the exposure time is 1 hour, always being careful to let them cool down afterwards. This method is highly effective against bacteria (99.99%), viruses (slightly less) and protozoa.
Objectives
To ensure that the drinking water for human consumption meets health and safety standards, and so reduces the risk of contracting diarrhoeal and parasitic diseases.
