Source text - English In Crime and Punishment, Raskolnikov murders a pawnbroker, Alyona Ivanovna, with an axe he stole from a janitor's woodshed, with the intention of using her money for good causes, based on a theory he had developed of the "great man". Raskolnikov believed that people were divided into the "ordinary" and the "extraordinary": the ordinary are the common rabble, the extraordinary (notably Napoleon) do not have to follow the moral codes that apply to ordinary people since they are meant to be great men. An extraordinary man would not need to think twice about his actions. Raskolnikov had been contemplating this theory for months, only telling it to his (now deceased) fiancée. (Although earlier, he had written an article along those lines in a journal on the condition that only his initials be used as attribution). Raskolnikov believes himself to be one of these extraordinary men and is thus "allowed" to commit murder. However, his plan goes wrong; before he is able to make his escape from the pawnbroker Alyona Ivanovna's flat, her meek-tempered half-sister (Lizaveta Ivanovna) arrives and stumbles across the body. Raskolnikov, in a panic, murders the pawnbroker's sister as well, a crime which, for some reason, does not weigh on him anywhere near as heavily as the initial murder. The fact of the murders themselves does not particularly torment him; what torments him is the fact that he has not "transgressed", and that he was not able to be the "great man" he had theorized about.
Translation - Greek Στο "Έγκλημα και Τιμωρία", ο Ρασκόλνικοβ δολοφονεί την ενεχυροδανείστρια, Αλιόνα Ιβάνοβνα, μ' ένα τσεκούρι που έκλεψε από την αποθήκη ενός επιστάτη, με σκοπό να χρησιμοποιήσει τα χρήματα της για καλό σκοπό, βασισμένος σε μια θεωρία που είχε αναπτύξει για τον "μεγάλο άνδρα". Ο Ρασκόλνικοβ πίστευε ότι οι άνθρωποι χωρίζονται σε "συνηθισμένους" και σε "ιδιαίτερους": οι συνηθισμένοι είναι ο κοινός όχλος, οι ιδιαίτεροι (κυρίως ο Ναπολέοντας) δεν χρειάζεται να ακολουθήσουν τους ηθικούς κώδικες που ισχύουν για τους απλούς ανθρώπους, δεδομένου ότι είναι γραφτό να γίνουν μεγάλοι άνδρες. Source text - English A mechanical system consists of (i) a power source and actuators that generate forces and movement, (ii) a system of mechanisms that shape the actuator input to achieve a specific application of output forces and movement, and (iii) a controller with sensors that compares the output to a performance goal and then directs the actuator input. This can be seen in Watt's steam engine (see the illustration) in which the power is provided by steam expanding to drive the piston. The walking beam, coupler and crank transform the linear movement of the piston into rotation of the output pulley. Finally, the pulley rotation drives the flyball governor which controls the valve for the steam input to the piston cylinder.
Translation - Greek Ένα μηχανικό σύστημα αποτελείται από (α) μια πηγή ενέργειας και τους ενεργοποιητές που δημιουργούν τις δυνάμεις και την κίνηση, (β) ένα σύστημα μηχανισμών που διαμορφώνουν την τροφοδοσία του ενεργοποιητή για να επιτευχθεί μια συγκεκριμένη εφαρμογή των δυνάμεων παραγωγής και της κίνησης, και (γ) έναν ελεγκτή με αισθητήρες που συγκρίνει την παραγωγή μ' έναν στόχο απόδοσης και στη συνέχεια κατευθύνει την τροφοδοσία του ενεργοποιητή.
