Bio

Greetings from Chicago! I started working as a professional translator from Spanish, Portuguese, and French into English in 1998 in the legal department of an international beverage company. After I left in January 2008, I have been a full-time freelancer.

My specialty is corporate law, and I have translated everything from court decisions to articles of incorporation to discovery documents in huge lawsuits. I have developed a subspecialty in big environmental cases, and presented a seminar, "Translation Issues in International Environmental Lawsuits," at ATA's 2014 convention. But I am comfortable with all aspects of corporate legal translation, as well as engineering subspecialties (environmental design, civil engineering).

I am certified by the American Translators Association for Spanish-to-English translation, and have a master's degree in writing (English!) from Northwestern University. Best of all, I meet deadlines. Please contact me for references, a CV, and/or samples. I look forward to working with you.

PS: My go-to translation software is Trados 2021, but I also use MemoQ and have worked on several clients' proprietary platforms.

Keywords: spanish, legal, contracts, court documents, discovery documents, arbitration, laws, international courts, environmental law, oil and gas legal issues
