Source text - English Law 2331/1995 on “Prevention and Combating the Legalisation of Income from Criminal Activities” (Articles 1 - 9) was adopted on 24 August 1995. The enacted Law substituted the ML regulation of the Greek Penal Code – Article 394A.
With the modification, completion and replacement of provisions of Law 2331 / 1995 (with Law 3424 / 2005) and the corresponding adaptation of Greek legislation in the instruction 2001 /97/ ΕU of the European Parliament, a significantly stricter regulatory framework is imposed with respect to the prevention of the use of the financial services system for the income legalization from illegal activities. The basic characteristics of the new regulatory framework are the expansion of definition of basic financial crimes and the persons who are obliged to report any suspicious transactions. According to article 4, paragraph 10, of the Law 2331/95 as amended and now in force: “Each credit institution or financial organisation must appoint a management executive to whom all other managers and employees should report a) about every transaction which they regard as being suspicious for legalising proceeds from criminal activity, and b) about every event which they come to know because of their service in the credit institution or in the financial organisation, and which could be an indication of criminal activity”.
Translation - Greek Ο Νόμος 2331/1995 για την «Πρόληψη και καταστολή της νομιμοποίησης εσόδων από εγκληματικές δραστηριότητες» (άρθρα 1 - 9) ψηφίστηκε την 24η Αυγούστου 1995. Ο Νόμος που θεσπίστηκε αντικατέστησε τη διάταξη περί νομιμοποίησης εσόδων από παράνομες δραστηριότητες του άρθρου 394Α του ελληνικού Ποινικού Κώδικα.
Με την τροποποίηση, επικύρωση και αντικατάσταση των διατάξεων του Νόμου 2331/1995 (με το Νόμο 3424/ 2005) και την αντίστοιχη προσαρμογή της ελληνικής νομοθεσίας σύμφωνα με την οδηγία 2001/97/ΕΕ του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου, επιβάλλεται ένα σημαντικά αυστηρότερο ρυθμιστικό πλαίσιο όσον αφορά την αποτροπή της χρήσης του συστήματος χρηματοοικονομικών υπηρεσιών για τη νομιμοποίηση εσόδων από παράνομες δραστηριότητες. Τα βασικά χαρακτηριστικά του νέου ρυθμιστικού πλαισίου είναι η διεύρυνση του ορισμού των βασικών οικονομικών εγκλημάτων και των προσώπων που υποχρεούνται να αναφέρουν τυχόν ύποπτες συναλλαγές. A minimum of two room types/rates should be offered. The employee should try to up sell to a higher room category by highlighting its benefits (i.e. size, view, amenities, etc.) Employee should clearly state the room rate and what it includes/excludes (i.e. tax, service, meals etc) The employee should ask for the business (i.e. 'would you like me to make a booking for you’)? The employee should explain the cancellation policy and if applicable, the deposit policy. The employee should clarify the guest's smoking preference. 4. Η κατοχή των μετοχών συνεπάγεται αυτοδικαίως την αποδοχή του Καταστατικού της Εταιρείας και των συμφώνως προς αυτό τον Νόμο ειλημμένων αποφάσεων των διαφόρων οργάνων της Εταιρίας.
6. 4. The possession of shares automatically entails acceptance of the Company’s Articles of Association and of the decisions made by the various bodies of the Company in accordance with this Law.
6. The relevant application to the B.D. must indicate the surname, name, address, occupation and nationality of the applicant, the number of shares that he/she wishes to transfer and the name of the person to whom the shares will be transferred. The above application must be communicated to the Company through registered mail, with acknowledgment of receipt or an extrajudicial act served by a bailiff.
7. It is explicitly acknowledged that the B.D. has the right to grant or reject the requested consent by a simple majority of all its members.
The Chairman or the Vice Chairman of the B.D. must see to the service of the relevant decision of the B.D. to the applicant via registered mail and receipt of delivery within one month from expiry of the application.
In no case is the B.D. obliged to communicate the reasons for approval or rejection of the relevant application, and the applicant may not raise any claim concerning the relevant decision.
8. An approval is deemed granted from the moment it is communicated to the applicant, subject to par. 14 of this article, or after the lapse of three months following the legal notification of the above application.

After my graduation from this dense two-year course, in May 2005 I returned to Greece and worked in a resort hotel as a Front Desk Agent. Later on I was employed in a translation Agency as a secretary and translator. I currently work as a freelancer and I can say that I truly enjoy my work.
