Smartphones are everywhere and with iPads and Android tablets now leading the market, the next generation in mobile computing is exploding in popularity around the world. But the risk of a hacker stealing your sensitive information or the device itself has also risen dramatically.
1. Keep tabs on your devices.
Don’t leave your smartphone or tablet unattended. Tablets are hot sellers, so thieves are even more tempted to steal them. Be sure to download a security app from your app store that can locate your device if you lose it. Be weary of allowing others to use your devices without close supervision.
2. Set a strong password.
Make your password difficult to guess with numbers and punctuation marks. You may also set your device to lock and wipe data after a certain number of incorrect login attempts.
3. Look out for fake apps.
It’s tempting to download free apps but be cautious! Malicious apps are often disguised as legitimate and can steal all the data from your smartphone or tablet. They can also monitor your activity and capture your usernames and passwords. To prevent this, download a mobile security app from your app store that scans, detects and blocks mobile threats found in downloaded apps before they can infect your mobile device. Some apps will also check for security updates automatically.

The concept of Internet of Things (IoT) is related to uniquely identifiable objects and their virtual representations in a structure similar with the Internet[1]. This new concept is an innovative solution to realize a quantitative analysis of all the things that surround us. A prerequisite needed for the Internet of Things is the radio-frequency identification (RFID). If all objects and people in real life were equipped with identifiers and smart-tags, they could be managed and inventoried by computers[2].
People have limited time, attention and accuracy, so that they are not very good at capturing and storing information about all the things from the real world (even if we include 2D barcodes used for Automatic Data Acquisition applications). An alternative view on IoT, from the Semantic Web perspective, focuses instead on making all things addressable by the existing naming protocols, such as URI (this refer to other things than those electronic, smart, or RFID-enabled). The objects themselves can be referred for the moment by other agents, for example by powerful centralized servers acting for their human owners, without conversion.

Das Konzept des Internet of Things (IoT) steht im Zusammenhang mit eindeutig identifizierbaren Objekten und ihren virtuellen Darstellungen in einer Struktur, die dem Internet ähnelt.[1] Dieses neue Konzept ist eine innovative Lösung, mit der eine quantitative Analyse aller Dinge durchgeführt werden kann, die uns umgeben. Eine erforderliche Voraussetzung für das Internet of Things ist die Funkfrequenzidentifizierung (Radio-Frequency Identification, RFID). Wenn alle Objekte und Personen im wirklichen Leben mit Kennungen und Smart-Tags ausgestattet wären, könnten sie von Computern verwaltet und inventarisiert werden.[2]
Menschen verfügen nur über begrenzte Zeit, Aufmerksamkeit und Präzision. Daher sind sie nicht sehr gut darin, Informationen zu allen Dingen der realen Welt zu erfassen und zu speichern (selbst wenn diese mit den 2D-Strichcodes ausgestattet würden, die für Anwendungen für die automatische Datenerfassung verwendet werden). Ein alternativer Blick auf das IoT aus der Perspektive des semantischen Webs konzentriert sich stattdessen darauf, alle Dinge mithilfe der vorhandenen Benennungsprotokolle adressierbar zu machen, etwa mit URIs (dies bezieht sich auf Dinge, die nicht elektronisch, smart oder RFID-fähig sind). Auf die Objekte selbst können zunächst andere Agenten, etwa leistungsstarke zentralisierte Server, die für ihre menschlichen Besitzer agieren, ohne Konvertierung verweisen.
