Two years experience as a freelance translator and proofreader during which I have translated, amongst other things, numerous research reports covering international development, the humanities, and social sciences for UK universities.
My formal qualifications include an MA in Translation and Interpreting Studies from the University of Manchester, UK, in which I focused on commercial and business translation, literary translation, subtitling, and the translation of humour.
I also have a BA Hons Spanish and Portuguese degree from the University of Southampton, specialising in Latin American history, politics and culture. I spent a year in Salvador, Brazil carrying out a research project on grass roots political movements and this is when I developed a love of Brazilian music and food!
As well as translating professionally, I like to spend time searching for new Brazilian short story writers whose stories I can translate in my spare time. |
