Translating has been the perfect career for me because ever
since I was young, I have always paid attention to words in ways that most people
don’t. While I do appreciate architecture, when I travel, I am more interested
in talking to local people and I even find my eyes drifting toward the words on
store advertisements and street signs rather than the lines and angles of
buildings. I have lived throughout Syria, Egypt, Spain and Lebanon for nearly a
decade, which has drastically shaped my professional career and world view.
Professionally, it has allowed me to master the languages I work in by being
immersed in so many different cultures for so long. On a personal level, this
