“Cursos de idiomas y capacitación para integrar a la juventud vulnerable, migrantes y refugiados”, dirigidos a jóvenes inmigrantes, refugiados de entre 12 y 18 años, que fueron derivados al centro residencial de Dianova por el Sistema Nacional de Justicia. El objetivo del proyecto ha sido aumentar las habilidades prácticas de sus beneficiarios a través de cursos de capacitación orientados a la empleabilidad.
Un total 30 personas se han beneficiado del proyecto. 15 jóvenes residentes participaron en los 3 cursos de capacitación técnica y otros 15 jóvenes no residentes, procedentes de organizaciones locales, se beneficiaron de las actividades sociales organizadas en los cursos.

“Creando Redes de Salud y Bienestar para Adolescentes, Jóvenes y sus Familias”, es un proyecto que aborda la situación de alta vulnerabilidad personal y social de los adolescentes nicaragüenses, particularmente en relación con la adicción y el embarazo adolescente.
El proyecto ha creado las condiciones para que 60 jóvenes de entre 10 a 19 años, 40 adultos (padres o tutores) y más de 200 familias, desarrollen sus habilidades sociales, fortalezcan sus lazos familiares y comunitarios y fomenten sus capacidades para tomar decisiones conscientes que afecten su salud, cuerpos y vidas.

Respondiendo a las necesidades de las mujeres: “Ninguna mujer se queda atrás: esperanza para las mujeres que enfrentan trastornos por el uso de sustancias”, con este título, Dianova organizó un evento paralelo en el marco de la Comisión de la Condición Jurídica y Social de la Mujer, copatrocinado con sus socios de la Asociación de Mujeres del Sudeste Asiático y Pacífico (PPSEAWA) y la Conferencia de Organizaciones No Gubernamentales con Estatus Consultivo ante las Naciones Unidas (CoNGO).
El evento reunió a diferentes expertos con el objetivo de intercambiar experiencias, identificar iniciativas y encontrar soluciones que incluyan a las mujeres que enfrentan trastornos por el uso de sustancias. Asistencia al evento de 90 personas.

Dianova participa en dos eventos paralelos en la Comisión de Estupefacientes de Naciones Unidas
Organizado por los Gobiernos de Uruguay, Canadá, Estonia y Noruega, Dianova participó en un evento paralelo con el título “Abordando el estigma: continuar con el debate” y presentó iniciativas para reducir el estigma de las personas con trastornos por uso de sustancias en los servicios de salud, los medios de comunicación y el entorno laboral. “Evidencia sobre el tratamiento y las Comunidades Terapéuticas como parte integral del sistema de salud”. Dianova coorganizó este evento de alto nivel donde se presentó un estudio de las ONG Proyecto Hombre (España) y KETHEA (Grecia), sobre la evolución de las personas que han recibido tratamiento en comunidades terapéuticas. Campaña de sensibilización #EscuchaPrimero – Con el objetivo de concienciar al gran público sobre la importancia de establecer relaciones positivas con su familia y especialmente con sus hijos e hijas para ayudarles a crecer sanos y prevenir comportamientos de riesgo, como el abuso de alcohol u otras drogas. A través de la campaña, Dianova proporcionó herramientas de comunicación para facilitar un diálogo más efectivo, a través de actividades destinadas a mejorar la comunicación entre padres e hijos/as de 7 a 14 años.

“Trabajando juntos – Drogas y desarrollo Sostenible” – Esta guía de buenas prácticas publicada por la Oficina de las Naciones Unida contra las Drogas y el Delito (ONUDD) con objetivo de familiarizar a la sociedad civil con el Documento Final de la Sesión Especial de la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas (UNGASS) sobre el problema mundial de las drogas (UNGASS 2016) y destacar el potencial de participación de la sociedad civil en la implementación de las recomendaciones operativas y sus respectivos Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS).

“Defendiendo los Derechos Humanos de los usuarios de drogas en el hemisferio americano”, en la 65º Sesión de la Comisión Interamericana para el Control del Abuso de Drogas (CICAD).
Entre otros elementos, la reunión puso énfasis en los esfuerzos regionales por implementar y dar seguimiento a las recomendaciones de la UNGASS 2016, las alternativas al encarcelamiento y las respuestas legislativas ante la proliferación de Nuevas Sustancias Psicoactivas (NSP) en la región.
Desde Dianova vemos con preocupación que se mantiene la vulneración de Derechos Humanos de usuarios de drogas en la región, y hacemos un llamamiento a la CICAD para atajar este problema de raíz.

“Hacia un aporte inequívoco”, sesión de formación de la red Dianova, XII seminario “Gestión y Desarrollo”.

El objetivo es crear conciencia sobre la necesidad de promover servicios de tratamiento de adicciones basados en una perspectiva global de empoderamiento y desarrollo individual, e integrando una perspectiva de género.
Campaña dirigida a diferentes targets de los sectores público y privado, a los que se insta a facilitar los medios necesarios para implementar programas adaptados a las necesidades y a las expectativas de todas las personas, resaltando, de forma particular, los vínculos entre género y adicciones.

Representantes de dos organizaciones miembro de la red Dianova, Grupo de Reflexión de Amigos para el Desarrollo Humano (GRADH – Togo) y Slum Child Foundation en (Kenia) presentaron sus trabajos en el III Congreso Formativo en Desarrollo Sostenible (CoDes2019).
GRADH compartió su trabajo sobre la experiencia del “Club de Madres de Togo”, que trabajan por el empoderamiento de las mujeres para aumentar su participación en los mecanismos de toma de decisiones de sus comunidades y Slum Child Foundation presentó el proyecto “Toto Club”, un grupo de niños entre 6 y 15 años, se apoyan mutuamente para mantenerse alejados del consumo de drogas abogando por un estilo de vida saludable con sus pares y familias.

En Dianova, estimamos que hay una necesidad urgente de crear más conciencia sobre los problemas específicos que afrontan las mujeres cuando se enfrentan a trastornos de consumo de sustancias, incluido el estigma, las especificidades de género, la violencia y los obstáculos al tratamiento y la reintegración social.

Durante las discusiones con la sociedad civil en el 66º período ordinario de sesiones de la Comisión Interamericana para el Control del Abuso de Drogas (CICAD) que reunió a más de 100 expertos y representantes de 26 Estados Miembros, nuestra representante, a través de una declaración, instó a los Estados a implementar medidas para acabar con el estigma y acompañarlas de iniciativas para mejorar el acceso y permanencia en los programas de tratamiento, en especial de las mujeres.

“Empoderando a las mujeres con trastornos por uso de sustancias víctimas de violencia de género”, proyecto desarrollado en el barrio de Korogocho, en Nairobi por la organización Slum Child Foundation, en el marco de la campaña Empower Women, Empower Society, con el objetivo de ofrecer apoyo comunitario a las mujeres con trastornos por uso de sustancias y víctimas de violencia de género. El proyecto capacitó a un grupo de 20 mujeres para ayudar a difundir la conciencia entre sus pares, sobre los sistemas especializados de apoyo a la salud proporcionados por organizaciones locales e internacionales presentes en los barrios de Kenia.
Su papel será abogar y defender, desde el trabajo de terreno, una sociedad más segura y libre para las mujeres que han sido afectadas o están en riesgo de sufrir violencia de género, con especial atención a aquellas que también ya están o podrían estar en riesgo de incurrir en adicciones.

"Language courses and training to integrate vulnerable young migrants and refugees", aimed at young immigrants and refugees between 12 and 18 years of age, who were referred to the Dianova residential centre by the National Justice System. The aim of the project was to improve the practical skills of its beneficiaries through training courses orientated around employability.
A total of 30 people have benefited from the project. 15 young people in residence participated in the 3 technical training courses and 15 young non-residents, from local organisations, benefited from the social activities organised within the courses.
The project was funded by the Kahane Foundation.

"Creating Health and Wellbeing Networks for Young People and their Families" is a project which addresses the situation of the high personal and social vulnerability of young people in Nicaragua, particularly in relation to adolescent addiction and pregnancy.
The project has created the conditions for 60 young people of between 10 and 19 years of age, 40 adults (parents or tutors) and more than 200 families, to develop their social skills, strengthen their family and community ties and enhance their ability to take conscious decisions affecting their health, bodies and lives.

With this title, Dianova organised a parallel event within the framework of the Commission of the Status of Women, co-sponsored with its partners from the Pan Pacific and Southeast Asia Women's Association (PPSEAWA) and the Conference of Non-Governmental Organisations in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations (CoNGO).

Dianova participates in two parallel events at the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs.
Organised by the Governments of Uruguay, Canada, Estonia and Norway, Dianova participated in a parallel event entitled "Addressing Stigma: continuing with the discussion" and presented initiatives to reduce the stigma within health services, the media and the workplace of people with substance use disorder. The event was attended by 70 people.
"Evidence regarding treatment and Therapeutic Communities as an integral part of the health system". Dianova co-organised this high-level event, at which a study by the NGOs Proyecto Hombre (Spain) and KETHEA (Greece) was presented, relating to the progress of people who have received treatment at therapeutic communities. Awareness campaign #ListenFirst had the aim of raising the general public's awareness of the importance of establishing positive relationships with their family and particularly with their children, in order to help them to grow up healthy and to avoid risk-taking behaviours, like the abuse of alcohol or other drugs. Through this campaign, Dianova provided communication tools to facilitate more effective dialogue, through activities designed to improve communication between parents and children from 7 to 14 years of age.

"Defending the Human Rights of drug users in the American hemisphere", at the 65th session of the Inter-American Drug Abuse Commission (CICAD).
Among other things, the meeting placed an emphasis on regional efforts to implement and follow up on the recommendations of UNGASS 2016, the alternatives to imprisonment and legislative responses in the face of the proliferation of New Psychoactive Substances (NPS) in the region.
From Dianova we observe with concern that human rights violations of drug users within the region are continuing, and we call on CICAD to tackle this problem at its root.

"Reflecting on drug interventions from the point of view of ethics, quality and methodological rigour", XXI Ibero-American Seminar on Drugs and Cooperation organised by the Ibero-American network of NGOs, whose work focusses on Drugs and addictions (RIOD).
The objective shared by all participants was to continue to seek an improved quality of life for people and communities affected by the problem of drugs from a Human Rights perspective.
Dianova's contribution was based on the exchange of good practices and experiences from its programmes and projects, in order to join forces in improving interventions and in the promotion of political advocacy activity.

International awareness campaign #HumanEmpowerment. To mark theInternational Day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, Dianova launches the campaign "Human Empowerment". The aim is to raise awareness regarding the need to promote addiction treatment services based on a global perspective of individual empowerment and development, and integrating a gender perspective.

Representatives from the Reflection Group of Friends for Human Development (GRADH - Togo) and Slum Child Foundation (Kenya), both member organisations of the Dianova network, presented on their projects at the III Formative Congress of Sustainable Development (CoDes2019).
GRADH shared its work on the experience of the "Togo Mothers' Club", who work for the empowerment of women to increase their participation in their communities' decision-making mechanisms, and Slum Child presented on the project "Toto Club', in which a group of children aged 6-15 mutually support each other to steer clear of drug consumption and advocating a healthy life style with their peers and families.

Proposals to strengthen the EU's Policies on Drugs, annual meeting of the Civil Society Forum on Drugs (CSFD).
As a member of the EU's Civil Society Forum on Drugs since 2013, Dianova supports the request to the European Parliament to incorporate the problem of drugs within the political agenda and the processes which are in motion, like the evaluation of the EU's Strategy and Action Plan on Drugs, where it is hoped that civil society will contribute, or changes within the financial frameworks for matters of health and justice among others. "Empowering women, empowering society", phase 2 of the international awareness campaign #HumanEmpowerment launched to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
At Dianova, we assess that there is an urgent need to raise awareness around the specific issues of women faced with substance use disorder, including stigma, specific gender factors, violence and the barriers to treatment and social reintegration.
16 members of the Dianova Network from Bangladesh, Chile, Slovenia, Spain, United States, India, Italy, Kenya, Nicaragua, Norway, Pakistan, Portugal, Sweden, Togo and Uruguay joined the campaign.
Audience: 1,532,450 people.

Dianova urges CICAD to reduce the stigma of addiction.
During the discussions with civil society at the66th regular session of the Inter-American Drug Abuse Commission (CICAD) which brought together more than 100 experts and representatives of 26 Member States.nOur representative, through a declaration, urged the States to implement measures to do away with the stigma and supplement these measures with initiatives to improve access and continuity in treatment programmes, particularly for women.

Seminar organised at the European Parliament, by the Civil Society Forum on Drugs (CSFD), with the am of defending and implementing a model for drugs policies based on the principles of public health and respect for human rights.
At the seminar the representatives of the Eurochamber were informed of the current challenges posed by the issues related to the drug policies, the development thereof at the United Nations, the role of the EU within international fora and the possible channels of collaboration with the CSFD and organisations within civil society. "Empowering women with substance use disorders and victims of gender violence"is a project undertaken within the Korogocho neighbourhood, Nairobi, by the Slum Child Foundation, as part of the Empower Women campaign, with the aim of offering community support to women with substance use disorders and victims of gender violence. The project trained a group of 20 women to help to raise awareness with their peers, regarding the specialised health support systems provided by local and international organisations present in Kenya's neighbourhoods.
Their role will be to advocate and defend, from working on the ground, a safer and freer society for women who have been affected or are at risk of suffering gender violence, with particular attention to those who also are or could be already at risk of falling into addiction.

I'm a professional translator with full Chartered Institute of Linguist (CIoL) Membership, as well as a Chartered Linguist. I have worked during the entirety of my career in languages, and consider myself a meticulous and conscientious specialist in translation. My career previously included several years as Secondary Teacher within the UK education system. Beyond translation and education, I also have professional experience within the IT sector.
Spanish is the language that I speak at home, and in normal times (i.e. pre-Covid) I lived between the UK and Barcelona, Spain. I have always been extremely passionate about language-learning, and speak and have taught myself numerous other languages. Beyond my interest in languages and education, I am also very interested in technology and have undertaken quite a lot of training in relation to programming languages, machine learning, statistics etc. For these reasons, I consider myself a specialist in these topics.
I have lived both in Spain and Germany, frequently visit both countries, and am very proactive in maintaining my level in my languages.
