Si has ido a la iglesia, aunque solo sea por un periodo de corto tiempo, es probable que hayas oído al sacerdote o al pastor enfatizar el estudio de la Biblia. Pero ¿es estudiar la Biblia realmente importante para ti, un joven adolescente? ¿No es acudir a los servicios cada semana suficiente? Regarding Spanish:
I received a minor in Spanish from Purdue University in 1979. In addition, I have studied Spanish in Mexico for 3 months in 1978. From 1980-1981 I was in the Peace Corps in Ecuador using Spanish as my primary language. From 1982-1987 I served as a missionary in Puerto Barrios, Guatemala using Spanish as my primary language for those 5 years. Later, while serving as a missionary in Thailand, I had the opportunity to do meet with Hispanics in the Thai prisons in Bangkok for a period of 4 years. From 2007-2008 I served at an Office of Refugee Resettlement shelter for unaccompanied youth from Central and South America, and who get caught in the border areas. 80% of all the work I did at that shelter was in Spanish which included daily interpretation as well as daily translation of materials. More recently, I have obtained a Bilingual (English-Spanish) Certificate in the state of Texas from Education Career Alternatives Program (ECAP) located in Richland Hills, TX. In all the years that I have used Spanish, I have done oral and written translations from Spanish to English as well as from English to Spanish.
Regarding Thai:
From 1991-2006 I served in Thailand as a missionary. In May 1992 I received a certificate of proficiency from the Thai Department of Education which can only be obtained after a rigorous course of study. As a missionary, I had the opportunity to serve as an interpreter from Thai to English and from English to Thai on a regular basis. I also translated written materials from Thai into English regularly.
