ProZ.com powwow: Summer Barbecue on Bruntsfield Links

Hi folks!

NB. AS AT 11:45 ON FRIDAY 26 JULY, THE FORECAST IS LOOKING GOOD FOR 2PM SATURDAY. SO WE WILL PLAN MEET ON BRUNTSFIELD LINKS.

As the sun is shining so gloriously on Scotland's capital today, I thought it would be an auspicious time to announce the annual translators' summer barbecue!

As has become customary, we will meet at 2pm on Bruntsfield Links in the area near where Bruntsfield Terrace meets Bruntsfield Crescent (look for the Scottish Lion Rampant flag - red lion on yellow background). If the weather is bad we will decamp to my nearby flat. If you get lost or are in any doubt where to go, please call my mobile on 07932 596533.

Just bring meat / veggie burgers etc. and whatever you want to drink. We will provide salad, condiments, rolls and the all-important barbecue!

This famous event often extends into the evening - so don't plan on doing too much work on the Sunday :-)

PLEASE remember, after you've signed up, to change your attendance status to Yes, No or Maybe in the right-hand column. This helps us to know how many people to cater for.

I look forward to seeing you on Saturday 27 July!

Cheers

Julian

I know it's only May, but it's never too early to sign up for this highlight of the Edinburgh translators' calendar!

Yes, never too early Jules!

This is our 3rd summer BBQ. Last year 22 translators attended, and the year before there were 16 (those are the "official" numbers anyway), so hopefully this year will be a bumper one with lots of new and old faces.

Looking forward to it!

Becky.

I'd love to come to Edinburgh May 23, 2013

Hi. In a tongue in cheek sort of way, would you kindly accept participants from south of the border? I want to attend a powpow this summer and Edinburgh is the nearest to me. Would I need to organise some overnight accommodation?

All welcome, Gül! Jun 24, 2013

Hi Gül,

Of course you are welcome! It would be great to meet you.

I'd imagine that if you're coming from England you may wish to arrange some accommodation in Edinburgh, but I suppose it depends how far south you live. If you look for B&Bs in the Marchmont/Meadows/Bruntsfield area, that would be the closest to where the BBQ is being held, and not too far from the train station to get back home the next day. But Edinburgh isn't a huge place, and you may wish to stay closer to the city centre for a bit of sightseeing.

Cheers,

Becky.
