Nice future planning tool! Jun 8, 2006

Everything went fine as long as I tried to increase my holidays per year, the outcome was more or less the rate I'm charging now. It's just that I'm quite happy with my 6 weeks holidays a year, living in Crete you don't have the urge to go to Copa Cabana. BUT when I tried to insert my actual goal - to work less hours per week - ooops, my agencies should be prepared for a nasty surprise! Just cutting my working week to 30 hours instead of 40 ment having to increase my rates 25 percent. It should ... See more

Just cutting my working week to 30 hours instead of 40 ment having to increase my rates 25 percent. It should be obvious even without this tool, but it's just that I actually never took the time before to think about the mechanism!

This tool is a very nice eye-opener!

An new tool to improve our professional exercise Jun 8, 2006

I've just tried this new tool and It works.
It makes me think my rates are low.
It will help me to take everything into account before quoting for a job next time, such as my broad band internet connection, paper, printing and things like that.

Nice idea!
Thanks!

I am definitely NOT charging enough! Jun 8, 2006

Now, all I need is a calculator on how to get the required number of words to translate.

Can be useful Jun 8, 2006

Thanks for this new tool. It may be very useful especially for those who dont know the rates, or they can not plan thei first year.

It may not give exact results but it definately helps to low rated freelancers to realize the reality of life.

So far I would call this tool as an eye opener!!

Thanks a lot.

Nizam

Eye Opening Jun 9, 2006

I agree. It is really easy to use.

The bad side is that makes you conscious of how badly income result you get with your current rates at the end of the year, without being aware of.

Yes, I agree with the mayority. We need to raise our rates.
Who was talking about those jobs at 0.05 Euros? Having a look at the calculator makes you realise how ridiculous it is accepting that kind of rates.

entering random numbers and it works? Just a minute, think it over... Jun 11, 2006

One thing: we randomize possibly 'the decimals', but not the order of magnitude. Has anybody entered 4 hours a week, or 400 hours work load? No? I thought so.

Same applies to the rest of entries. And the number coming out? Well, "it is in the ballpark". Of course, what did you expect?!

But ... I'll raise my prices anyhow

Vito

INTERESTING AND USEFUL Oct 8, 2006

Hello everyone:

I have just tried the tool and it's great! It helped me discover I am neither undercharging nor overcharging.
Just the happy medium I hoped to achieve!

Thanks to those who worked on it!

Monica
