Hello,
I don't know if somebody have posted something like this, but I couldn't find anything related to this subject.
I have helped in some kudoz and I have won some points for some good answers. The usual thing is that the askers give you some points if they consider that your answer is the best among others and they always say Thank you and then, they close the question and you receive an e-mail with all the information about points and thank you and etc.

I would like to say Thank you to them although I know that the question is closed. I helped them with a good answer, but they are helping me when they give me some points too. So, I would like to know how I could say thank you when they have closed their question and, I would like to know if they receive an e-mail with my gratitude in the same way that I have received an e-mail from them.
I hope you can understand my point and help me with this matter.

I have never agreed with 'thanking' people for agreeing with an answer or for selecting my answer as most helpful. I may be pleased but I don't understand the need to feel gratitude. Thank you for thinking I may be correct? That may be ok for politicians but imo it's a bit out of place in the context of Kudoz answerers. I find it rude when Askers don't thank people for helping but to thank people for thinking one is correct has always seemed a bit strange. Imo.

Hi,
Maybe my necessity is because I am a Latin American and we used to say thank you just because we feel to say that. I don't want to be rude but sometimes the culture of our countries are different and we think in a different way.
I don't want to bother anybody with this post.

We all have opinions and not all opinions are the same. This is just a discussion and it's no bother at all. It will be interesting to read what people think.

It will be very interesting to read what other people think about it. Maybe it's going to be like other threads like greetings and I don't remember the other one that was good too. It all depends of the countries and culture.

I don't do it often but sometimes I have thanked askers who have chosen my answer, adding a "thank you" or "you are welcome".
But I'm not thanking them so much for the points or for acknowledging the best or most correct answer because maybe it isn't (especially if hardly anyone has participated in agreeing or disagreeing), but I simply make a friendly connection with a colleague who must have thought about my answer and appreciated my efforts (I have sometimes spent quite some tim... And I assume the asker most often also spends some time looking at the answers and contemplating which one to choose.
In a sense, the asker's decision to choose my answer is like a last "agree" and I do appreciate agrees.
There are many askers who thank me for my answer and in the end don't choose it. That still says they appreciate my efforts. I have on occasion said thank you/you are welcome to them also.
Now, I never thought - does the asker actually receive my thank you note?
I usually post it as an add-on in my answer window. It's after the question is closed, so maybe staff can confirm that the asker is indeed still notified of that added thank you note.

Hi,
It is really interesting to learn that you want to thank people who have given you the Kudoz points.
I think you must be given a chance to do that. As suggested here "You are Welcome" is also good.
I think the best way to thank everyone here on Proz is to continue to help each other.

I think it is totally senseless to thank anybody for selecting your answer. Nobody is doing anyone any kind of favor-- they are just confirming the correctness of the phrase not anyone's ingeniousness. I would never do it. Of course it is very polite to thank people if they helped you with something.

I think it is not necessary at all. You help someone solve his problem for free. Sometimes It takes me a long time to find a good and reasonable answer, so when I get the koduz point, I think It's just a kind of compensation. There is no need to say thank you again, you have just recieved something you deserve it!
I'm not bigheaded at all, But I think it is better for the asker to say thank you besides koduz point. In my opinion It's more reasonable!

Hello all,
You can thank KudoZ askers for selecting your answers as the most helpful ones by adding a 'thank you' note to your answers. This will send the asker an e-mail notification informing them that an addendum was made to an answer they selected and include not only the direct link to the question, but also a copy of the note added.

To my mind, a "thank you" is not out of place in such circumstances, given that the agreeing party has taken the time to concern him/herself with the question.
I generally limit myself to agreeing only when I have a fairly strong conviction about the correctness of a suggestion. When people "reflexively" agree with friends or with frequent responders, then "agreement" loses all meaning.

The points cover their thanks, your thanks, and the entire Proz community's thanks, from those who might look it up in the future.
The exchange is balanced: they got the answer they were looking for; you got the points you deserved in exchange.
Now, if out of Latin politeness (I am Brazilian, so I understand it), you want to break that balance by saying "thank yo... See more You gave a good answer, the asker selected it, and you got the points. Even score, case closed.
