I am experiencing weird site appearance Thread poster: Katalin Szilárd

Dear Site Staff and Proz Members, I am experiencing weird site appearance since 10-15 mins on proz.com It look as if pages were opened in "reduced" mode - like cached pages or similar. It looks very weird. I could not even find the support ticket part on the site. I can send print screens what it looks like. Anybody else is experiencing this? No, Katalin, everything appears fine to me. I seem to remember having experienced this once before, for no reason I could ever discover. I suspect it might be worth trying closing and then re-opening your browser. If you have more than one browser installed, it might be worth trying to access the ProZ.com site using a different browser? If not, I'd suggest just trying again a bit later, maybe it is just one of those unexplained gltiches! | | | Katalin Szilárd Hungary Local time: 02:22 English to Hungarian + ... I logged out and logged in and it was the same. I checked other sites as well, they were fine. I closed the page where proz was opened and logged out from the internet as well then logged back in and opened a new site and now it seems to be OK. I do not know what happened. Thank you for your post, Ivana. Since my last post I experienced it again. It looks as if pages were opened in "reduced" mode - like cached pages or similar. It looks very weird. When a proz page was opened it sometimes moved up and down without me doing anything. I could not find site parts, fonts looked weird, some of them were too big some of them were too small and written with different fonts and links were not separated. But now it is normal. Di... Dear Lucia, I do not think that it has to do with my or our Internet provider(s). Why? Because I experienced these weird things with Wi-fi at 29.70 Mbps and also with stable cable at 43.17 Mbps. Furthermore as you can see those who experienced it are living in different countries: Hungary, Croatia and in Chile... I do not think that a cable Internet with 43.17 Mbps is slow or not stable Internet... Regards, Katalin

Hi Katalin, Have you contacted your Internet service provider for further information? If so, would you mind providing this information to support staff via your support request. This will certainly help site developers to look into this further. Thanks! Lucia | | | Katalin Szilárd Hungary Local time: 02:22 English to Hungarian + ... Lucia Hi Lucia, The reason I do not think it makes sense to contact my Internet provider: Any Internet provider's first question will be: Do you experience this only on 1 site or on all sites? And I already know that I experienced these weird things only on proz. The other thing: proz members in Chile or Croatia has nothing to do with my Internet provider and writeaway for example experienced this since yesterday ... So my Internet provider would look at me very weird if after telling these pieces of information I would look for the problem at my Internet provider. So logically any Internet provider would tell me contact the site where you experienced this problem. Regards, Katalin | | | More information required | May 23, 2013 |
The reason why I ask you and others experiencing this problem to please contact your ISP is to gather more information, Katalin. You will understand that screenshots may not be enough to confirm or disregard an issue report, specially when after running several tests, the issue could not be reproduced. So, to help site staff to look into this further, more information is needed. Please feel free to provide such information via your support request. Thanks. Lucia | |

Hi, I'm sorry that you seem to be suffering from this problem, and I am looking into it for you. To be clear, the pages you are seeing are the result of a css file not loading either correctly (or more likely at all). This is what controls most of the styles on the site. Have any of you noticed anything consistent with these occurrences? Time of day? After viewing X pages? any information may help. Also, if when you have this problem, if you c... Also, if when you have this problem, if you could hit Ctrl+u (or go to the menu and press View->Source) and copy and paste that into a text file and email them to me at [email protected] (dont post them here) that would help. It would allow me to see what servers you're connecting to and possibly any other commonalities between you that may be causing the issue.
