When I navigated to ProZ.com today, I got a banner with this message: “Enter your address in your ProZ.com profile to help potential clients find you when searching by location. (You can keep your address private if you wish.)”

My address (private) is already on my profile and has been for a long time. Am I missing something?

Well, I do only see Mexico under your name on the profile page, whereas mine says my town name. Could that be it? Yes, if you go to change your address, you'll see it asks whether you want to show different parts of it or not.

Completeness not dependent on privacy Apr 10, 2013

Perhaps, but I don’t think that’s the issue. Or if it is, it is not explained clearly at all, because of the following.

In another recent thread in this forum, “Personal address and Profile completeness – privacy protection”, a site staff member clarified that it isn’t necessary to make one’s address public to have the profile considered complete.

And the invitation wasn’t to make my address public, it was to enter my address.

Directory searches? Apr 10, 2013

But surely that's referring to the translators' directory, isn't it? On that (the advanced version) you can filter first by country, then by city, then by distance from city. I believe if you just give Mexico, then it won't (may not) select you for jobs where the client specified in or near Mexico City.

"Address" field is still incomplete Apr 10, 2013

Hello GoodWords,

I see that you are being invited to complete your contact information because, even when you did enter some information in the "Profile Contact Information" field, you still haven't entered a 'State / region / province' and a 'City'. To complete this section, just visit your Profile updater and click on "Change" next to "Address" under the contact information section:

Hello GoodWords,

I see that you are being invited to complete your contact information because, even when you did enter some information in the "Profile Contact Information" field, you still haven't entered a 'State / region / province' and a 'City'. To complete this section, just visit your Profile updater and click on "Change" next to "Address" under the contact information section: http://www.proz.com/settings/freelancer/contact . Select a region and a city, and click on "Save and update" profile at the bottom of the page.

Please let me know how it goes.

Kind regards,

Lucia
