Good evening,
I am having problems with my TagEditor Trados 7.0 when it converts to the target document in Word. I am using Word 2010, and I continuously get the message "Error while converting fields to Word document". The original document is a financial report with many tables. Can anyone help me resolve this problem?
Many thanks in advance,
Nigel.

Problem with TagEditor Trados 7.0
Sep 26, 2012
Hi Nigel, The problem is due to the labels in the original document. Trados accepts the document for translation, but cannot convert it, because there are too many fields that he does not understand and it does not detect. One possible solution will be copy and paste the text "AS PLAIN TEXT" in word, but then you lose the format.
Another variant would be after the translation, copy and paste in the original document. It is slow too.

I suggest...

...to convert first the Word 2010 document to Word 2003, as Trados version 7 does not recognize Office 2010. Afterwards, you can reconvert to Word 2010 once you're done.
I think that is all the problem.
Hope my suggestion helps.

You can also try to see which table/labels are causing the issue. In my experience, when i tried to clean up a document in TagEditor i'd look where the clean up stopped generating the error. Assuming i saw the progress bar stopping at around 50% of the cleanup, i'd go scan all central pages till i found something strange, which i would remove to then retranslate the document without that specific part in it. I had successful results in many cases.
Hope this helps
