Can not save a file, or save it as target in Studio 2009 Thread poster: Stephanie Ezrol

I have never seen this error before. I created a TM as I usually do and loaded a .docx document as I have done many times, but when I tried to save the document using File, Save, it opened the Save As dialog box with the suggested file name. When I clicked the Save button I got the following message: Failed to save target content: Could not find file (with the full name Trados suggested). I tried changing it to a short name and that didn't make any difference. ... See more I have never seen this error before. Thanks in advance for any help I can get on this one. ▲ Collapse | | | The links are the devils | Sep 9, 2011 |
It happened to me. Before you import the Word file into Studio, make sure all links within the file are DISABLED.

Thanks Catherine. There are links. Because I wasn't sure if I would get help, I have been using Trados and pasting each segment into a target .docx file that I created. Can I delete or disable the links from the source file in Trados? Or do I have to clean up the source file in the .docx and then start again from the beginning? Sorry if it's a stupid question, but much of Trados is an unknown to me. | | | Wolf Kux Brazil Local time: 16:03 Member (2006) German to Portuguese + ... A similar problem ... | Sep 9, 2011 |

In other words, suppose you first translated 45,666% of all segments. Then, this batch could translate nearly 45,666% - or a little bit fewer. HTH ▲ Collapse | |

Thank you very much Catherine, and thanks also to Wolf for offering to help. I closed Trados not being able to save the work I had done in Trados. I found the links in the .docx file and reloaded that file into Trados. Wow ! Was I suprised when Trados found all the work that I had done in the TM and automatically translated those segments that I had translated as context matches. Thanks again. It's really wonderful when a problem can be solved simply and elegantly. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Can not save a file, or save it as target in Studio 2009 TM-Town | Manage your TMs and Terms ... and boost your translation business
