disagree  Lisa Frideborg Eddy (X): after having searched Google for "burl cotton textile", I don't believe it fits the context. when something "nopprar" the fibres become unravelled an broken. the texts I found on burl seem to suggest it's a fabric with an intentionally "nopprig" texture.

lint

Explanation:
I seem to remember that my american host family (longt time ago :o))used to refer to "noppror" (pl. n.) as lint. I'm not sure what the verb would be though... Also find some links that seem to indicate that "lint" is used the same way as the noun "noppra" is used.

disagree  George Hopkins: I think you will find that lint is English for 'ludd'.
17 hrs
-> When fabric "nopprar" it produces lint - this is due to the fact that the fibres break - please see my references for how "lint" is used in the context of textiles

I wonder if this helps - it's easily understood, and I think gives the same image.
